I'm a watch whore, I think we would get along well together. We could drink Diet Pepsi in the garage while working on our vehicles and take turns yelling at the neighbour

The good thing is travel time is next to nothing, and the work, like already mentioned, is in my field of expertise. It's not the end of the world if I decline the offer, I do have something else I can do, it's not in my field, but the pay is , but the commute is 40 min one way ...

This is the problem right now, there is a shortage of qualified skilled trades (especially good ones). Everyone needs one, but aren't willing to pay for the experience. Then they are left scratching their heads when they're losing production because of incompetence, or wondering why they have high turn over.

Bottom line, my experience is worth more than they're paying.
mr. gale- hello! sorry to hear about the pay. is there a timeline when you can get a raise after 'proving' yourself to the company that you are a valuable asset? hope things work out for you. being close to home and little to no travel is a great plus when you have little kids.

i use to travel a lot for business, but since having kids ive cut down about 99%. lol. when my kids are older i might decide to travel more again. at the moment im too busy with picking up the kids, etc since my wife works too. she really doesnt need to work as i can support the family on my own, but she's a very smart girl and likes working, so why not? she hates house chores anyway... (i get to do that )

hahaha!! im not much of a watch person, but my Orient watch couldn't keep time very well after a fall...so decided to go Seiko this time. so far so good. yah, we can PDR people's cars, install suspension kits, exhaust/intake mods, do dressup aero kits, detailing, etc while we drink dietpepsi, and make some cash... and when we're bored, we can go kick the sob's arse for more yelling. hahaha.

Hi guys. Feeling really great right now. I owe it all to the people on this forum. I'm a pretty good mechanic. I was a Jet Mech in the Marines and have done some work on cars. Everything from changing engines (even with different car companies providing the replacement engine) to complete suspension mods. I'm pretty sure I could install either a Stillen or GTM SC. Would need help with the tuning. Now to what has made me soo happy. Ever since coming to the forum I've been doing things outside my comfort zone. Body mods and detailing actually scare me. Drilling into the alum. trunk of a perfectly good sports car isn't something I'm used to. Today I buffed out some areas on the trunk that have bothered me for 2 years. 3 years ago I wouldn't have bought a DA( yes it is a random Kensan) and tried to do it. It was much easier than I expected. Tomorrow I'm doing a 3 step detail of the paint. 1st I'm using a Turtle wax scratch remover, then going to a Maguires Gold wax, and finally an ultimate shine with detail spray and the detail pad of the DA. I'm hoping for a great finish on my car. I'm doing everything short of claying it. The confidence I go into this task is all thanks to the encouragement of the GREAT people here. Thanks again guys(and gals).

I'm so glad we make you uncomfortable!

Nah, I'm glad to hear you're trying things you wouldn't normally do. And look...you wouldn't have ever known how easy a random orbital is to use unless you took the plunge!

hahaha!! im not much of a watch person, but my Orient watch couldn't keep time very well after a fall...so decided to go Seiko this time. so far so good. yah, we can PDR people's cars, install suspension kits, exhaust/intake mods, do dressup aero kits, detailing, etc while we drink dietpepsi, and make some cash... and when we're bored, we can go kick the sob's arse for more yelling. hahaha.
Unfortunately it's a Union shop so the pay raises are predetermined. It would take 280 days to get to the top rate which is still I may decide to go into business for myself... Not sure if I want the headaches that are associated with that though.

We can do mods on our kids Big Wheels.

Installed the plate LEDs and discovered a huge scuffed area on my Z's butt. Guess this gives me more incentive to save up for the Amuse rear.

You know you're old when you don't need to Google "Big Wheel" to know what it is.
