I had not considered that. I believe you may be correct. The reduced stopping distance the Pilot Super Sports (by Michelin) provide would have made the difference between a near miss and tragedy.

TheGreatOne 04-30-2012 11:47 AM

Oh that sucks 3seventyZ :(

When I lifted my car last night, I noticed this, I'm wondering how this could happen? From the occasional tire rubbing or I must of driven over something??

TGO, when you turn your wheel to the left (or fully to the right) does it make contact with that part of the fender liner?

btw, on my G i dont intend to get it fixed. it's too old of a car to fix in the first place and for me, as long as i know when to fill, it doesn't bother me that much. hahaha. :D

Yeah, it's not worrisome. My warranty runs out in January 2013 and my Z goes into storage at the end of October, so it makes sense to get all the little things fixed while I can.

Actually when I do a fully locked turn, I have heard a "pop" so that could have been rubbing...but its only happened on one side and I'm surprised...looks like someone chewed it or melted it lol

Good Afternoon Z fellows!! A regular Monday in here =

Cloudy weather, still manage to drive the Z to work... nice start for a Monday, still  LOL

Nothing much happen to the Z lately, but I've been thinking about putting another 5mm spacers on the rear. One question though, is it ok to add a 5mm spacer on top of the 10m studs-replacement one. I believe it should be ok.... correct me if I am wrong. :tiphat:

Mr.Onzedge, for the movie title, you can also consider "The Edge Identity".

heard of guys complain that if they are lowered and run spacers in the front the wheel may rub the part that sticks out with the fastner.

hi mr.alcheng! good to hear you got some motoring time this am.

you should be fine with the 5mm on top (between your spacer and your wheel, not between spacer and hub), but make sure you get at least 10mm of thread on the stud/lug. otherwise the thread could strip. :)

yep, the car was not meant to ride on low offsets on the front.

I am on Swift Spec-R, Koni and 15 mm spacers with no problems (except for my face muscles that get cramped from the constant grinning when I drive).

So the deal is set to go for tonight. Does this sound too good to be true: FI TDX w/ 18" Res and carbon fiber for $1100? What sort of issues do I need to check for? Once again, my apologies for the noob questions.

from wat ive read, running 20mm spacers up front on stock tires + H&R springs will introduce rub on larger bumps. im not sure how low that is vs stock nor do i know what setup TGO is running. i ran 20mm spacers on stock wheels/tires and stock height, no issue, but ive never encounted huge bumps or drips to require full bump.

sounds about right for a used CBE. Just check for dents/scratches in the CF mufflers, scratches on tips, dents on the pipes if they are minor, negotiate. The FI exhausts are made from 304 SS so there shouldn't be rust on them.

H&R I think drops it 1.5" in front, swift does 1.25" in the front. I would only get 15mm spacers in the front. Besides, the front doesn't bother me as much as the rear.

sounds good, mr.alcheng. if you run open lugs you can get longer studs and have all sorts of spacers to play with your vossens..

hummm...as for folding bike i think im down to two... dahon speed-p8 (699 amazon) or tern ink p9 (950 shipped from a bike shop). tern is owned and operated by the son of dahon's originator so i trust the quality... :ugh2:

Mr.kenchan, too bad I am not using open lugs.. so will have to talk to the mechanic to see if it's safe to take off that 5mm...

The Link P9 is definitely much better, lighter and easier to fold... better style too  Good Luck on the purchase Mr.kenchan :tiphat:

mr.alcheng, if you do plan to use open lugs and sandwich a 5mm spacer, i highly recommend the muteki steel lugs. duraliumium ones are imho too soft to do anything other than full thread. :)

yah, i like the Link P9 better... will see if a shop would let go the P8 for cheaper than 700... then it might make sense to get the dahon..hummmm....

hello!

Alchemy 04-30-2012 02:55 PM

Got a question guys. Im about to order a new rear set of rubber for zdayz. Now my setup is a little messed up right now because when i got my wheel tire package i went 245/40 up front and 295/30 rear. So my sidewalls are off ya know. To even out the sidewalls im considering stepping down to a 285 in the rear so I can do a 35 sidewall. Now my question is, and Im not sure if anyone has a good answer but Im runnin an 11 inch wide wheel in the rear. Is a 285 gonna look stretched at all. I suppose it shouldnt as its only slightly smaller than the 295, just lookin for an opinion.

Zoren 370 04-30-2012 02:56 PM

Saw my Z concubine 1am today after a month long of absence. Drove her I-75 south for about 30mins of intense manipulation. Then gave her a new K&N CAI as a gift to make her breath intensely even more.

mr.alcheng- thanks for helping out. :D yah, i was looking at the tern D8 as well, but for now im waiting to see if the shop selling the dahon p8 will let loose for 550. if not, im most likely going to get the tern link P9 (900 + 50 to ship).
