hahaha, mr. gale, i was warned by my buddies in detroit to leave the detector behind when crossing the bridge. :icon17: ive not made it over that bridge yet... i hear stories. so i go to canada via the buffalo bridge when i have to drive to toronoto burbs... :icon17:
Years ago, I crossed at the Windsor/Detroit bridge 90% of the time when driving to the US, (lived closer to it). Only had a gun drawn on me once before entering the US. I learned to not reach for your friends front license plate to show the border patrol without making your intentions known! :icon17: Other than that one time, it's been good experiences. Just don't stop or get out of your vehicle in Detroit. :p

Crossing at Buffalo has always been a PITA for me... I don't think they feed the border guards there. They are always grumpy for some reason.

I'm sure it will make your pockets light though.

:bowrofl: Yeah I don't want to spend that much, especially given how much I've spent in the last few days. I think I will just stick to the GX65 and just won't use it in VA.

Why, oh why, Dear Ken-San do you make it rain the day AFTER I wash my car? Is it because you dont like mine looking yummier than yours?

the border guards at buffalo... aha, all this time i thought they were grumpy to me because they thought i can't speak canadian. so they're hungry. i will remember that next time. :icon17:

As far as hassling with the cord on a corded unit, I agree that it is a bummer to deal with the dangly, curly thing. So, I installed a Stealth cord for the 9500ix. It taps into the power and ground lines that go to the rearview mirror, if you have the Homelite unit. It was about 11 dollars and powers the unit perfectly. I hope this helps.

Wondering nobody talk about Valentine-One, I thought they are best one on the market.

Another thing is I know lots of cops use lidar gun nowadays, and lidar gun pin-point to a single car, thus if the detector signal you and it's a lidar, then you are done.

I always think about those jammer instead, it's more expensive, and they have auto-off feature, in case the cop shoot your car again to confirm if you have a jammer, it's off already and you've probably slowed down.

Anyone think it's a better idea than radar detector??

I heard some cops will just ask to you drive/roll over the detector in front of them.... :ugh2: :ugh2:

I thought about getting a detector too, but after reading about no-escape on lidar-gun, which is 99.9% of most OPP using nowadays, I just give up and behave when I drive.

Also, almost all the OPP will write down "lidar" on the ticket, therefore the driver does not stand a chance in trial, cause lidar gun only shoot at a single car, can't argue its failure.... :ugh2:

lol :icon18: ;) Red

but the sad part is my post on that thread is actually the most constructive, dont you think? :ugh2: im teaching the guy how to heel and toe telling him how a seasoned MT like me :hello: views folks that cant do this basic technique. dont really need SRM if you're a true MT driver. hell, my G doesn't have SRM and no issue. :D

and i get some pansy post telling me to soften up? wtf.. :icon14:

Fire 04-19-2012 12:33 PM

I'm planning on high performance driving lessons at Watkins Glen when I get my ZL1 so that I can drive it to it's max. I don't have a huge amount of driving in anger with a MT. :driving:

why you getting tractor trailer lessons to drive a ZL1? :ugh2: those things are like 18speeds... :ugh2: :icon17:

JARblue 04-19-2012 12:38 PM

kenchan, I would argue that heel-toe isn't even necessary for the OP in that thread. I think he probably should work on rev-matching first. Then he can add braking and heel-toe maneuvers into his repertoire... many years later :D

Fire 04-19-2012 12:41 PM

LOL Kenman I said high performance not high weight. And you might have been a tad harsh saying that if somebody cannot heel n toe they shouldn't buy a MT. I've had more than a couple MT's that you cannot heel-toe due to poor peddal placement.

Fire 04-19-2012 12:42 PM

Hey JAR are you a Marine or ex-marine?? Just wondering due to you name.

hey fire- you talking about heel and toeing a moped or something? :ugh2: :icon17:

The pedals in my Ford Explorer Sport were spaced so far apart I couldn't heel-toe if I wanted to with my size 13 shoes (not that heel-toe is particularly useful in an SUV). There were several situations I got into where braking with my left foot saved me cause I think my right foot would not have made it to the pedal in the reaction time I was given. Of course that meant I stalled out once I stopped since I didn't have another foot to put in the clutch

Kenman my 69 vette had it's clutch farther away from the firewall than the gas, I'd have to stand on my head to hit both at once with one foot. It was easier to heal to the brake and clutch LOL

those classics... they dont turn anyway no meaning to head/toe or heel/toe watever your choice. but the Z, she can turn! why not get the most out of the car if one's spending $30K+ on a MT car no? :D
