I would take a water sample in twice a year to monitor the TDS levels, and the Chlorine Stabilizer( conditioner), and the Calcium Hardness.

Liquid Chlorine has no Stabilizer in it , but it is a dirty chlorine with undisolvable solids , TDS levels

Tablets are dichlorol with a stabilizer in it..

You want to watch for the stabilizer level. too low, and you will burn liquid chlorine like a 370Z burns oil, haha, Too high and the chlorine can "lock" and even though the chlorine level is high, it won't work as well.

Also you must "shock " the pool( raise the level past 3.0) to get rid of the chloramines in the water.. If the pool smell like chlorine, that may be chloramines due to low levels of chlorine for an extended period of time. Not good.

The reason for the two water samples, is one at winter temps, and one at summer temps..You are doing this to check the calcium hardness, and P.H. and things to protect the pipes and the vessel ( the pool body). These levels are different for fiberglas pools vs. Plaster pools.

Yes, I lived the pool boy life back in the 1980's in Marin County California...And yes, I have the stories to prove it...Horny women in Marin just like Beverly Hills.

I PM's him Bucket. LOL
I don't check my levels. I have water from the town water supply and the treat it when it gets filled. I found all I was doing was chasing the levels. I think I have come up with a good maint sched. and the water stays clear and doesn't burn the eyes.

Don't want to drink, though, because after a few beers I start to slow down and am more prone to make mistakes. Odd.

Thanks, I have forgotten a lot over the years, but back in the day when you have 75 pools a week, you get really good at it..It only takes 4 or 5 going bad to wreck your week..

You would leave the extra gallon for the customer to add mid week, and they wouldn't..

You can only add so many tablets when you are there..

And watch out about adding 3" tabs to the skimmer..Now days they have PVC pipes on the new pools but even then, you can fry the insides of the equipment.. Floaters are the key..

Fire 05-25-2012 04:25 PM

He will need that knowledge to maintain his property. I'm not sure how much longer my pool liner is going to last. It is a vinyl liner that is about 30 years old atleast. Not sure when it goes if I can get a spray in done to replace it. The sand base of the pool has shifted over the last 2 years. I know that if I replace the vinyl with another vinyl liner I will loose my diving well cause they don't make vinyl liner with them anymore. I don't know if it is legal for the spray in guys to allow me to keep the diving well either.

Vinyl liners are tricky.. You have done well to learn about it...Levels are harder to maintain in the vinyl pool..

I was going to start talking about the new low wattage Pentair pump but I was boring people and Highjacking ...again...

back to getting sideways and Boobs(girl) boobs..

remember to keep your side windows clean if you turn your traction control
off..Because you will be driving looking out those windows.:driving:

Fire 05-25-2012 04:30 PM

I don't recommend you try drinking Bucket. I'll enjoy one tonight for ya. I'm sure that once you get confirmed on your house you will be enjoying some NA Bubbly.

Sad thing is that I never abused it...I always just enjoyed red wine and some ale after work, but now due to medical conditions I am forced to not drink.

But you are right, the reaction of the two is a no-no... You should know, being in the business you are in.. I will sadly follow your recommendation..

I have hated pills all my life, and I wouldn't even take an aspirin...Now it is one 325mg aspirin a day and several other medications.

But I am alive, not paralyzed, and I can speak just fine...More than most stroke/seizure victims ever get back..

Enjoy...:hello::tiphat:

Fire 05-25-2012 04:44 PM

That is very tru Bucket.

onzedge 05-25-2012 04:49 PM

Alcohol is tricky stuff. Some can, some can't. No one knows why this is true. I get to be one of the ones who can't -- my last drink was July 26, 2000 (not that I am counting or anything). It scares me that I am the way I am naturally and without chemical help (except my good buddy caffeine).

Fire 05-25-2012 04:50 PM

This weekends racing is awesome. Tonight the World of Outlaws sprint cars are on. I worked on a WoO style spring car for 5 years. We raced with them a few times when they come to NY and Penn. We would race every weekend down in Pa with our 410 cu motor. Would drive down Fri and race then move to the next and race Sat. night then the last on Sun night. We would get home about 3AM and be at work at 8.

I'm totally watching. At the very least, I HAVE to catch Monaco, but they're all great races

Yeah, me too. I've only owned plastic kiddy pools... filled with jello...

Fire 05-25-2012 04:53 PM

I don't work on other people's car anymore. Have been asked by a few guys that race the local dirt tracks. I put my money in my cars now not other peoples. No I'm not going to get a dirt track car of my own. They get wrecked too much. When(if) I get the ZL1 I will be running on the road courses in non-compition track days. Oh and time attack events sound good too.

I hear where your coming from Mr. Onzedge. I respect that you have been sober almost 12 years, congrats! Im a bit of a booze hound myself. Although I dont abuse it near as much or as hard as I used to I still have a few beers every night after work usually, a few more on the weekends. My father actually passed from alcohol abuse so its totally in my blood. I hope there comes a day when I can completely dry out, or at least keep it to a social drink once in awhile. I know there are some people that cant even have one or they go off the deep end. I used to be like that and still kinda am in a party situation on occasion. Again, I commend you on being able to kick the habit. It was easy for me to quit smoking after doing it for about 8 years but booze is a dif story. To me its hard to beat a few drinks after a long day.

Fire 05-25-2012 05:18 PM

I count myself very lucky that I don't have an addictive personality. I drank way too much at times in the Marines and did my share of partying in high school. Strange it is called that (high school) cause that is what I was most of the time LOL. This was in the mid 80's. I only drink a little bit now and don't smoke the herbage at all. :ugh2:

If anywhere else... Hide yo wife, hide yo kids!

Bucketlist2012 05-25-2012 05:37 PM

Mr Onzedge.. Congrats on no more drinking... Will power is something that you have...Good Job..

Alchemy..I totally understand..I needed to drink after a long day at work, slaving to get two days work done every day...I need an outlet, and the beer and the Herb was my release.

I also sadly more than 12 years ago, had a run of Meth that I am not proud of..12 years clean...The devil had a hold on me...My will power was stronger..

I would not be successful now had I stayed on the deadly course.. I am lucky in many ways...

And Fire, you sound like you got it together...We all got too high at one time or another..

Remember boys and girls..The Past does not equal the future.

We control our future...
