They're all out having fun in their Z.

Might attempt that seat mod tomorrow. I keep forgetting that I have the stuff in the car.

brucelidat 05-19-2012 07:57 PM

Nope, I'm working today. I do looking forward to some more Zing now though with the swifts. Driving to Long Beach tomorrow to go to Catalina for the day. Too bad I can't drive to Catalina.

I've got some questions for you guys.

Can you Koni without Swifting? Would there be any benefit?

What mods make the Z need a tune?

GaleForce 05-19-2012 09:25 PM

Back in the house for the night. I still have 80% of the car to correct. :icon14:

Today I was trying out my new Griots machine and new Meguires Micro Fiber cutting pad and D300. The Griots machine is :yum:. Anyone want a practically new PCXP? Anyhow, I really liked the results I was getting until I had a failure...

Hmm, this looks normal,

http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/...s/58bf8a7e.jpg

Hey! Wait a minute!

http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/...s/d93c0c80.jpg

Something isn't right,

http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/...s/bebd67f1.jpg

Apparently it's common for these to fail, so I was kind of expecting it, just not so soon. I only used this pad for the hood and roof. Boo! Good thing they come in packs of two.

Here's a teaser, getting work done...

1. Yes you can. The Koni's would probably feel more responsive over the stock struts.

2. generally, intake + HFC + CBE = Uprev (tuning)

Thank you sir! So if I only run an intake + CBE, I shouldn't need it?

ZMan8 05-19-2012 10:18 PM

so I just returned from a bbq at a friends house and got to drive his s2k. Finally I know 2 things:

1. I fit :happydance:
2. It really is a fun car especially in high rpm.

You should be ok. But you could always put an Uprev on your "I got money burning in my pocket and I need to spend it" list.

brucelidat 05-19-2012 10:23 PM

I don't think you'd have problems running the breathing bolt-ons without a tune, you just won't be optimized.

Nah I wouldn't bother with a tune until you have the full fledge of mods. That's when you will reap the most benefit. :)

What mods make the Z need a tune?

1) You should be fine with the Swifts alone, unless you need aggressive handling and bumpy ride, for DD purpose, the Swifts is just fine....

2) If you only have intake and CBE, you don't really need it, the ECU can make adjustment for the intake.

At least the top three breather mods: intake, HFC and CBE.

Intake can be defined as any modification that "improves" stock. Notice the quotes. I did that because there is little improvement necessary to the stock air box.

I'm itching to take the Z out with weather so nice. But, it's still in the garage being corrected. I thought I might get the correction finished today, then I decided to take the rear spoiler off so I could remount it using silicone instead of the 3M automotive tape I was using... That "little" job put me back a few hours.

I was just checking in during a lunch break. Have a great day everyone :hello:

Hey all! :hello:

I think a bath is in order as well as a nice coat of wax today. It's the start of Lovebug season and there's nothing like a good coat of wax to help combat that situation. :)

kenchan 05-20-2012 12:15 PM

i back tracked a few pages and yah, mr. gale  on your garage. :D i likes clean and organized garages. :p

I love using the Z for odd utility transport :rofl2: We have a very small firm - 4 people - and no official IT support. I am the Guy Friday and just so happens that I am computer hardware and software savvy.

Morning guys. Had a very long night and now debating whether or not to actually go in to work. Here are some pics from last night, but I really want to see how it looks in the sun. :excited:

Turns out there is a rather large ding where the paint went down and it now shows like a sore thumb. He offered to fix it but since I might be upgrading to a kit at some point, I said fvck it. You can only notice it from just the right angles. Also, the spot under the fog light was missed and I wasn't able to get a pic of it after it was corrected. I'm happy with it for now. :)

Lookin good as well, Tracie  Paint or powercoat engine cover and strut bar next?

I put my car into neutral release the clutch, still revving... clutch in a few times. Still revving, turn off the car, turn back on(while still in traffic), still revving. Finally after I lift my foot off the break pedal it stops revving. Keep in mind it didn't start till the initial clutch in and then didn't stop until my foot was off the break. My foot was no where near the gas and my mats don't even touch the gas pedal. I have to bring it into nissan to get it checked out.
