I would be nice if a member has a fail part and shift it around to fellow members to put it in their car, and then let the dealer fix it under warranty before their warranty expired.

nissan should cover the $100 diagnostic fee and the tow the dealer charges. honestly, that dealer sounds like bs.
dealers and nissan corporate are two different entities. i suppose you can talk to nissan and ask for reimbursement once deemed a warranty issue. |

This is the typical goodwill/ case process as I actually work for Chrysler doing goodwill. Just like Chrysler, Nissan is not going to admit it's a problem. Your case manager will most likely know it is. Same process we tell customers they are responsible for the diagnosis and then work with the dealer to get the diagnosis and it's a crap shoot from here. What should happen is that Nissan and the dealer agree to assist and will cover some of the cost and pass a co pay to you. This is typical at Chrysler, for issues that are well known as detective or problematic still are not covered 100% it is extremely important to keep reporting this issue to the NHTSA as last I checked less than 10 reports... Nissan isn't going to recall this on their own...just as Chrysler continues to let well known issues sit idle.

I did neglect to mention that this is typical for out of warranty concerns, under warranty you should be able to get the towing reimbursed as well as the diagnosis fee would be waved once it's determined it is a warrantable concern with no signs of abuse.

My lock mechanism failed under warranty. Nissan covered towing and a loaner car (for more than 2 weeks). My out-of-pocket cost was exactly zero.

Just got back from towing it to the dealer. Apparently I talked to a different service rep because he admitted that IT IS a recurring problem. He said they're having the same issues with Altimas. He said that he thinks he'll be able to convince Nissan to cover the repair, but he's going to get back to me on Monday. Fingers crossed.

I guess I'm the next one on the dreaded steering lock, my Intelligent Key system warning light is on however the car starts.
Already made an appointment with Nissan for first thing Monday morning. Damn! 17 days before the oficial departure day to ZdayZ...FU*K!!!!!!
