The GT500 is not a track car, it is a street car and full of Dyno numbers..

Horsepower does not make a track car. Too many are fooled by HP..

Just look at the man himself....Mr. Shelby...

He ran the Gt350 against the world's super cars, but funny, he did not run against the ZL-1, or the ZR-1..

He only ran against the Z06...With the GT350, which he said was the best track car....NOT the GT500..

Sure he said you can get 700 to 1000 HP out of the Super Snake, but it is not a Track Car...
You're talking to a guy that drives a 600RWHP Challenger around man LOL For me horse power is where it's at. I like steering the car with the rear tires

To each his own, but steering with the rear tires and high horsepower is scrubbing off speed..

Sure it looks good and is cool on the street, but track times will prove that high horsepower will not beat a better set up car with lower horsepower..

That is why the GT350 will beat the GT500 on the track, road course..But not in the quarter mile.

But enjoy your Challenger..Very cool cars for sure...

Agreed but honestly, buying brand new $55K - $60K cars for track weapons isn't really the smart thing to do either. Get an older car and throw some good parts at it for a track day weapon and be in for under $20K easy.

My Challenger does triple duty as a drag strip car (too heavy for road course work), show car, and a weekend cruiser and it does ok. If I had it to do over again, I might have gotten a Mustang instead, but the 5.0 wasn't even on the radar when I bought the Challenger. The Challenger is so heavy it has taken a boat load of horse power to make it fast, as well as good tires. Mustangs are easy.

I originally wanted a Camaro, and went in to buy one sight unseen in 2009, but they wanted to mark them up and all that crap, so I bought the Challenger instead. Went back a year later to buy a Camaro too, and test drove it...didn't care for it. Now I'm eye balling a 2013 GT500 as a Challenger play mate.

I like a mix of both. My 370 was great fun to drive. It's sort of a cross between a little sports car and a muscle car. Now I've got both... S2000 and the 5.0. But, surprisingly, the 5.0 is the better handling. It drives differently, sure, but man it just does everything you want it to!

Fire, where are the ZL1 pics?!?!

I think you will be surprised at how well the new GT500 does on track.

Also, all the GT350 tests were done with R-comps. Put the GT500 on the same tires and I don't think the 350 will do that much better. There is only so much you can do with these cars (I own an S197 after all). After a while they all get to the same point handling wise (very good) and power/balance become the determining factor.

Where my 5.0 is at right now I will out-do a Boss 302 no problem.

I believe you...I haven't driven them both, and for sure not on the track..

Funny how the dealer wouldn't let me.. So I must agree with a Mustang owner for true results..

For me, If you have a really cool new mustang or challenger, or a ZL-1, I think that is super sweet..

I am not one to say one is better than the other...They are all nice new muscle cars...I don't buy into the manufacturer wars...

I don't either. Love a good car no matter who makes it! Life sucks if you only commit to liking one brand or region.

Thanks..It is a long shot due to being a short sale, and I low balled the offer..

But at 3.6% apr, and with the cash I have for a healthy down payment, I have to roll the dice..

Party at Mike's house if I get it...

If I don't , I still have a nice home and a 4.5% loan, so all is good..

Amen...I do not like people like that...

They swear that one car is better because it is a Chevy or a Ford...

I have always loved the Mach 1's, and the Challenger T/a's, and the Camaro's since childhood.

I am not changing now... I do wish that the new Camaro had fashioned itself after the Second Gen, and not the first Gen, but that is personal choice.

But I do love the Mustang's and the Challenger's...And the ZL-1's.. And the Corvette's, and the AMG's , and......and.....and....

I like the old muscle cars also. The Mustange I like is the big 1970 Fastback. Eventhough it looks heavy and bulky I like it.
