100% on CTS-V, had run by the dealer several times looking for a used 2011' 4-door. But realized was a bit out of my price range still.

People are raging about the Camaro even though it has the same engine, driveline, same suspension technology, etc. as the CTS-V, but check this out...

Which one of these interiors does NOT belong in a $60K car? Sadly...it's one of the one's in a $60K car...I think I see my former roommate's Cruze's steering wheel, btw...

That leather in the ZL1's seat? If it's anything like the leather in my Z06, and it looks like it is, I can tell you that that was one COLD cow. If it's vinyl (the corvette forum thinks its a hybrid of both--leather faced vinyl), it's a shameful man-made product.

Here is my driver's side seat after 3900 miles (I am 26, hit the gym, 5'10.5 and 185#, not some 320# old fat guy who taxes the seat on every entry/exit/long drive):

Passenger seat for comparison...

Chevrolet can build a smooth LOOKING interior, but touch on it for a minute and it starts to suck.

But, the way I see it, a lot of people who buy the Camaro (no matter which one) aren't looking for something with a sleek, luxurious interior. The Camaro isn't really about that, am I right? No matter how much you pay for it.

In fact, I can kind of see a super sexy interior detracting from the Camaro. It just isn't that kind of car. To me at least. It's like wearing diamond earrings to the gym. Or... like Rambo running around in the jungle in a tux.

Flame on.

That's horrible reasoning. If you spent over 50 grand on ANY car, it better have a sexy interior. Very few can get away with having simple interiors and those are usually purpose built type cars like the Lotus Exige...and it does it to save weight. The Camaro has no excuse. It doesn't have a sexy interior because GM got lazy and they let the penny pinchers decide. Supposedly there will be huge changes to the C7 in the interior department, so it might trickle down to the Camaro. Not any time soon though.

My best friend in CA graduated from Pasadena Art center, his buddy is Sang.... The guy that designed the exterior of the Camaro, maybe he should have designed the interior too haha. Unfotunately he works for VW now.

Heartbeat of America......designed by one of my far eastern yellow cousins!!!!

Let me list a few reasons why I'm trading in my Z. 1) I cannot track my Z vert. 2) I live only 90 minutes from Watkins Glen so track days are very easy for me to get to without having to get overnight accommodations. 3) The exterior styling of the ZL1 is great 4) I cannot finance my car plus save enough money to SC it also, so a package is better for me. 5) The ZL1 like the Z are limited in production and you will not be seeing one coming the other way in my neck of the woods. 6) The ZL1 is more than just high hp, it's the complete package and if the hp isn't enough low cost mods are easy to do to increase the hp. 7) Cause I can

Meh. I still think a lightly used Z06 would be a better track car in spades, since that is what you are after.

Don't know if I could swing the finacing of a used C6 Z06. There is no doubt the Z06 is a great car. I hate the looks of gen 4 vetts.

I agree. Plus, isn't the ZL1 $56,000 on top of the MSRP of the Camaro you choose? At least that is the SLP ZL1 as I understand it. I thought I saw on a Motorweek episode.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro SLP ZL1 |MotorWeek

Reading a little at the above webpage... You can actually get it for $80K on top of a base of $31K or $111K. No way would I buy a ZL1 unless I was going for investment and never drive it. It will go up in price in 10 years if not driven.

At $56K I'd probably buy one. Once I understood the total price I said to myself ... self, if your going to spend that type of dough might as well get a Corvette ZR1 which is a tad faster and should out handle a Camaro without houndstooth interior .... AND it's a Vette.

No matter how you look at it on the street a Vette trumphs a Camaro. Even when I pull up next to a brand new Camaro in my C5 Vette the guy looks the other way and it's not because he doesn't think the Vette is worthy.

I keep thinking I'd like a Grand Sport (for the removable top) and install a procharger. Then I think about how much I like my C5's looks and the fact that I really don't need 600+HP for the street.

I do have a '67 Camaro for the track that has over 650HP. At 500HP I pulled 10.98 and the tune wasn't perfect. Just about ready to put it back on the track again. Total investment ~23K Total hours ~200 of build / rebuilding time. I can hardly wait to get it on the track again. Then, I'll be looking for a awesome paint job for the fun of it. However, most people seem to like her just the way she is ... raw and mean looking:

Here she is at the track in 450HP prior to first motor rebuild:

The guys (note the second Camaro RS to the right - In process back to stock):

and the new 3rd motor:

Point is I love Camaros.... Just not worth $111K

Edit: Guess I should show you guys the Vette:

Hey if you got the money trade it up. I always looked at Camaros and Corvettes as performance bargains but nothing more. They may go fast in a straight line but will lack the overall package when it comes to luxury and performance. They are great looking from exterior nd are muscle cars, But that is it i couldnt see myself in a 50-60K camaro. Thats just me.

Vossen I agree about the luxury but you are way off on performance. The ZL1 has true handling capabilities and 580HP is no low hp ride.

I am a huge fan of American muscle! Love the heritage and the history behind the whole reason of owning one of these cars. 60K is a lot of dough for a Camaro!! If you want a great track car buy a base model Z and put about 15K in it and pocket the rest or better yet buy a used GTR and have some fun. That's all I have to say about that!

Just to be clear, you are complaining about this wear after X miles:

and you contrast with this picture of a (brand new) 370z interior:

Did you even look at the driver's bolster?

I mean, IMO, the 370z's interior is far better, but showing how your corvette seat wore is not going to prove a point...also, the Z seats are leather-faced vinyl like the ones in the vette....
