Been driving for over 35 years and have never used one. I've also never kept a car much past 100K miles and never had an oil related problem. But hey, you'll get others who swear by their use. For $50, if it gives you peace of mind, go for it.

Worth it? Who knows. But for $30 bucks, why not?

I have a filter mag on my Z and 2 Corvettes. Cheap insurance, and better than a magnetic drain plug.

I have a question... In that pic how uch of that metal do you think came from cutting the filter open? Being that it is clamshell cut they sure as hell used a saw or abrrasive cutter. My bet is company rep photo.

Also anything that a filter mag stops would be stopped anyway by the filter thats why its trapped in the can in the first place. You'd be better of getting the flat transmission filter mag and sticking it to the bottom of the oil pan to stop stuff that didn't enter the filter

I don't see that it wont hurt to stop the metal fragments from circulating on to the oil filter, and keep those same types of fragments stuck to the drain plug by way of a Mag type of oil plug.. I don't mind the added insurance.

it's not really added insurance is all. The stuff is suposed to get stuck to the filter you are NOT going to plug a filter in 4,000 miles and if you do your motor is gone anyway. A better use of that 30 dollars would be buying a flat agnet and sticking it to the oil pan not the filter. especially if you could put it where it will catch stuff before being pulled into the pickup. If all you want is to stick magnets anywhere you can then why not have cow magnets epoxied all over the inside of the block?

Simple Magnets are ok I guess, but theirs no reason to get snippy about it, remarks like that are what starts to take threads south. Thank You for your positive reply.
