It seems you have a huge sum of money for down, why not use part of it to buy the Winter beater??
It might not affect the monthly that much.

I would do that only problem is I am an american citizen living and working in canada. The result is a credit nightmare. Long story short, I can't get any long term financing here in canada because of my lack of canadian credit. In the US I can't use a traditional auto loan since I will be driving the car here. That leaves me with an unsecured personal loan which we all know have #$$@ interest rates. So I could extend the term of that personal loan but i'd end up paying a ton of interest so I am just going to pay it down ASAP instead.
