Unfortunetly, i think this oil gets very hot(even while i'm driving like a grandma, oil temp guage hits 250F easily.) much too quickly than the stock oil from Nissan.
The temp at my area is nearly 90F everyday. Also, if i drive like an ***, oil temp gets even hotter than 250, then i can see somekind of black power on the dipstick.
Is this mean oil got burned?
I thought every single synthetic oil has better resistance on heat than the stock ester oil... Should i drain my engine oil and change to another one?
Does anyone have an experience of using Quakerstate synthetic oil on your car? Do you have any recommendation on engine oil?
Plz help me!
Your oil has broken down(some kind of black power on the dipstick), "it's no good"! Get it out as soon as possible>preferably don't drive it, until after you change the oil!
Now for the bad news! That crap on your dip stick, is still in your engine . After you change your oil&filter, to a good synthetic. Drive a 1000, 2000 miles,"do not go the recommended 6000 or more miles"! At 1 or 2K, change your oil&filter again. You need to get the crap from the old oil, out of your engine.

yeah, engine sludge sucks big time........ ever saw the Castrol commercial with the oil falling on a person...... that's what you got

Castrol seems pretty good, i never had a problem with it.

lol......reminds of what i did...... one day i decided that no more maintenance or repairs on my grand-am...it took like 25K km to turn regular Castrol oil into foam... then it went to the scarp yard.

Seriously, do your engine a favor and AT LEAST put some Castrol Edge in there. If you can afford it, Royal Purple is the way to go. If not, consider Motul or Mobil 1.

The claims of Royal Purple being one of the worst oils you can buy are a bit extreme! The article that you linked simply shows that in the test that was conducted Royal Purple did not display any signifigant differences from the other oil it was tested against. Never did they say that it was a bad oil or bad for your vehicle, they only said that many of it's claims were not up to par. It is still a solid oil choice and I've had great results with it in my previous vehicle, so based on my personal preference I say if you are willing to pay for it, use it! But with that in mind going the advantages of Royal Purple are not that signifigant enough that would make it really worth using over another high quality synthetic like Penzoil Platinum. To each his own tho!

I actually JUST got back from getting my oil changed and I used Royal Purple this time! (3k miles oil change) I have a 1500 mile Road trip I'll be making over this weekend and plan to see how things turn out for me with the Royal purple. Next oil change I will be going with the Penzoil Platinum to see how it works out for me as well, and will then be basing my long term oil choice off my own personal experiences after trying both oils in my Z. Thats the only real way to determine whats gonna work for you!

That is just a article. All the actual lab tests are on BITOG and you can find them there where they did not do that well on most cars.

Castrol GTX Dino oil out performed RP and it's not even a synthetic. RP has such high wear, and metals showing in the oil changes vs other oils it is scary.

Just by trying it and saying it did well without a lab test results done on the oil is a bad comparison.

Isn't Quakerstate and Penzoil the same company? - Bob Is The Oil Guy

Watch this topic. They are the same company and Penzoil Plat is a different product and much better.

Never said it was. Just posted it as he points out why PP comes in 1st in most of peoples opinions. It's the cheapest, but also provides the best UOA's.

You are deeply mistaken. I will agree with you that RP is not the best 'bang for buck,' so to speak, but if you're willing to fork over the extra Benjamins, you're in for one of the highest quality lubricants in the market.
