I just had one removed from my hood from a plastic beach chair that fell out out of the rafters in the garage onto my hood. Took it to a Nissan dealership and cost $140 to get fixed.

1, read Kenchan's DIY.

2, look under you dash to find out what revision you have.

3, depends on #2. If you're out of warranty and you have revision C or lower, then sure, go ahead and swap it out for the Rev D, see #1 for the procedure.

No need to peel. Stick your head in the footwell and look up, it's visible without removing anything.

I am hoping someone smart will crack one of these open and figure out how to fix these things with a soldering iron and/or an ISO programmer.

Where are you oh electronics guru wizard of the Z inner workings world?
