Throwing in another oil cap to the fray; just ordered one myself last night. Came out to 51 bucks shipped. It's more than the Nismo ones, but I absolutely love the way it looks. ^^ Would go well with the HKS radiator cap.

I also have the Sickspeed plate bolts from last year. Boyah!

You know, I wish Cobb still made post MAF tubes for our Zs. :(. I wonder why they stopped making them?

They decided not to make any parts for FI vehicles. They chose to 100% dedicate themselves to FI. It sucks for me because COBB is 30min away from me in Plano Tx. Now I have no tuner for at least 4 hours from me.

edub370 01-16-2012 08:03 AM

ya cobb really let the auto Z community down by going strictly FI... i get the fact that they are about 10x easier to make power out of, bu they should have taken into account that there are probably 100 Z's to every 1 GTR on the road...

cobb could probably have doubled its profits by sticking with the z's. sure, the margins would be smaller from the R&D it takes to pump power out of NA motors, but they would probably outsell GTR tune's 10 to 1... c'mon cobb, you gotta have more business sense than that...IMHO that is a good way to get a company going in the wrong direction.

I'm sure i can speak for many people in here when i say that if cobb were still available for our cars i would be picking on up over an uprev....

LMBmikeZ 01-17-2012 04:51 AM

Not sure if you would call it a mod but its still a good idea to do is to get and it doesn't break the bank! Most people over look it but get a magnetic oil pan drain bolt and a filter magnet....Bougut mine over the winter just waiting to put them in when the car comes out of storage and get the first oil change in!:driving:

happytheman 01-17-2012 06:47 AM

Yes! That's a fantastic and cheap mod!

can you post pics of the bolts in your engine bay? i am hesitant about the name just bc it's kind of tacky, but they're a fraction of the cost of the pwjdm bolts.

Cool stuff, you modders must have a lot of time on your hands for all this mod stuff, I wish I did too.....I barely have time to wipe every day, sometimes I don't.

Niztalgic 01-17-2012 07:08 PM

My '78 280z has this mod. Quick drain drain plug. It was on there when I bought 7 yrs ago. Makes oil changes a snap.

I think LED bulbs for the parking lights and rear license plate lights are a good cheap mod as well. I think you can get the bulbs for like $10-20 bucks and it only takes a couple mins to put them in.

I'm curious about the rear license plate and parking light LED bulb quality and longevity. How long have you had them, did you have any issue with them...and can you provide a link for where you purchased?

Thanks man.

I've only had them for like a month now and got them as a gift from a friend. I'm not sure where he got them from, but no issues so far.

Alstann 01-17-2012 08:50 PM

I know that some people here have them from V-LEDS.COM | LED Dome, Map, License Plate, Reverse, DRL, Turn Signal, Brake Lights , and from personal experience, I can say the bulbs are quite resilient. I have had the same pair of 194 5-way led bulb on my cars for 2 years now with no issues. They are a little more pricey than some other websites, but definitely worth it.

Happy, check this out.

I ordered mine from here for like $6.00. It took a couple of weeks for delivery, but it was very inexpensive. I've had them installed for nearly 2 months now...no issues.

I can't speak directly to the ones linked in these posts, but I can say that I had LED bulbs in my last two Vettes from a different vendor for several years w/ no problems at all! Great improvement over the dim yellowish light of the OEM bulbs.

Once I found that the Vette and Z uses same bulb over the license plates, I just ordered another set from the vendor I used previously on the Corvette Forum.

LMBmikeZ 01-18-2012 12:25 PM

I added another cheap mod to my to do list and thought others might like to as well.......

Anyway the stillen grounding kit is <$100 and is worth while putting in. Found my old Z (z32 TT) ran much better after I installed the grounding kit FYI! Just reduces the interference from other electronics.
