What did you do with your Z today II

Well, I just checked my oil and oh my is it low!!!! I have about 36xx miles on the last oil change and its beyond depleted

WOW, I knew oil consumption was a prob but Im shocked. She is SCREAMING for oil.

I really need to keep a better eye on my oil situation.

On another note what mileage would you guys suggest a transmission fluid flush/fill at???

I replaced the transmission and differential oils at about 10,000 miles and I plan on doing it about every 15 to 20 thousand miles. I used Redline MT 85 in the tranny and 75/90 in the rear. I highly recommend the redline products.

You are likely going to get a wide range of opinions on this topic. How often is best, what oils to use, etc., etc.

Also, Mr. Alchemy -- stay on top of that oil level -- it is one of those "ounce of prevention" type deals.

Im embarrassed about how low I let my oil get

Also, in my service schedule from Nissan at none of the intervals did I see it reccommend a trans flush. Did I miss it or is it not there??

I usually do not perform a transmission flush on a manual trans.

Well Im at about 30k and havent done any trans fluid maintenence. I was planning on doing it at the same time I do my parts install
. Im wondering if my current fluid is helping contribute to my 5th gear grind?

at least you checked it, huh?

since i only drive my Z on the weekends i need to prop up the hood to unplug the battery manager. i ck oil level every sat/sun that i take her out. i dont need to wipe the dip stick either as it has clear indication of oil level just by pulling the dipstick partially out. no towels to worry about.

and i dont plan on doing trans flush for a while on my Z...at least not until she hits 30K.. my G's just shy of 30K and she's on original fluid from the factory 8yrs ago. im thinking about changing to redline later this fall if i feel the need.

i would do the rear diff as well.

I too planned to do my trans and diff at 30k. Slightly over cause I wanna do it when I install the parts I have here, which I havent got to yet. As for trying the Redline thats what Im gonna do depending on what the dealer says about my grinding issue. Its going in for service on Wednesday.

Im still baffled about how much oil this thing ate. I dont check it near as much as I should but seeing it this low just made checking it a new weekly thing for me.

What amuses me about this, onzedge, is the stark contrast between enthusiasts and dealerships. I took my Z to the dealer at the 10K mark, and all they said was that it's "good to go" as no maintenance was required (I changed the oil a few weeks prior). They're the same dealership that told me this car did not have a break-in period. What a bunch of idiots.

I was also told by my dealer no break in
