What did you do with your Z today II

I have read good things about the Michelins but I forget why i was set on re-11s. How do the Pilot SS compare in terms of grippiness and on the track? DO they cost much more? Costco has a pretty good deal on Bridgestones right now.

For track use, RE-11 > PSS.

PSS is a street tire that reaches up towards the track category in terms of dry grip, but it won't hold up to track conditions as well as the RE-11 and it won't have the same maximum grip. You could probably chunk a set of PSS in HPDE if you're real fast.

PSS is an amazing tire. The best for the street, IMO. But I'm not gonna say it will conquer the track... because it won't. Not repeatedly, anyways.

As I have spent no time on the track this is something I would never have been able to comment upon. I think with respect to your statements then, Mr. Brucelidat is absolutely correct to proceed with the purchase of the RE-11s.

Micheling Pilot Super Sports -- read what everyone on the forum says about them - it is true. I am over 11,000 miles on mine, they have a great deal of tread left (6 to 7/32) and they perform better that anything I have ever used, hands down. Bruce, I'm waiting on my fronts to arrive (got my rears yesterday). As I understand it, wet dry and track grip are all excellent on the mpss. They are pricier tho. Plan on ~$300-$330 per tire.

I wasn't gonna do it...but I'm so excited to get em on that I can't stop looking at em. Here's a re-posted pic:

Where did you buy the Michelins? Price I see right now on TireRack is $455 per tire.

I took close to 80 pics, of cause some of them are same composition but different exposure, hopefully I have about 15-20 of them upload to the album then I will post the link in here.

They have stiff tire walls for the track too? Hmmm, the dealership had some buy 3 tires, get the 4th for $1 deal going on. I can check to see if the PSSs are included in that and how much they would run. Then I can compare with costco and tirerack. Do they come in the stock sport package sizes or do I need ot buy a slightly wider tire? 9like with the re-11 rears)

They are available in stock sizes. Also, you might want to check the weight differences also. If memory serves, the Michelins are 2 or 3 pounds lighter.

Yeah they come in stock sizes. I wish they came in 285/35 19s cuz they make em in 255/40 19s. I think a 255/285 woulda been a nice upgrade on the stock Rays. I even emailed Michelin to find out if they were planning on producing the 285/35 19s (they make em in every other size known to man) and they replied that there were no plans to.
