I will certainly post a report after the release agent is gone and fun driving can be really documented :)

I loaded some SPC rear camber bits into the hatch today. I gazed out the window at my car, but that's about all the action I'm gonna get today until it's time to go home.

I've heard you talk about your Miata before

Do you still have it? Mod list for it?

It's at the dealer waiting to get the springs swapped-out. Not sure if that was going to happen today or tomorrow. I've got another car this week (Lil' gurney is on spring break), so there is no rush on my part.

Before I do anything with the spacers, I want to see what the car's ride height looks like. From there, I'll decide what to do.

Before it goes in for the corrective surgery, I've got to meet with the State Farm adjuster. That won't happen until sometime next week. From there, I'll decide when the work will get done.

Frankly, by the time they peel off the clear bra, address the stress cracks and bends then sand, prime, paint the bumper, I have to almost believe it would be cheaper to just buy a new $600 bumper cover.

If that does end up being the case, then the dealer simply orders the part, paints it, and then calls me in for the installation. That would tie up the car only one day.

It's going to be a while before I find out exactly what and when everything is going to happen. Stay tuned.

I'm thinking about putting on a Titan lift kit and just stop worrying about scraping! :happydance:

What kind of deductible do you have on your policy? Be careful putting in smaller claims...

I've got a $1,000 deductible. From what I can estimate in parts right now, without paint and labor, there's approximately $1,600 in damage. Paint and labor will easily push it past $2,000.

The surcharge for filing the claim will cost me an additional $210 over three years (approx $70/year). I had the discussion with my agent yesterday.

Basically, if the repairs cost more than the deductible and surcharge; i.e. $1,000 + $210 = $1,210, I'm better off making the claim.

It will be only the second claim I've made in the 35 years I've been with State Farm, and the first one since 1986. I've got a really good agent, so I'm not concerned.

From a dollar standpoint that is correct. Sometimes you just need to be careful how the insurance company looks at it if you end up to start putting in multiple small claims like these on your policy.

I understand, but hopefully there won't be multiple claims, and as my history shows, two in 35 years isn't bad.

Not at all! Just pointing it out that's all. Hope everything goes smooth with the adjusters/body shops! We care too much about our cars

ahhh, so you're waiting to hear from the dealer. and yah, from a convenience standpoint it almost seems better to just get a new painted bumper and have that installed. :)

since you already have the parts from your current bumper (mounting bracket and all) would it make sense for you to do the bumper swap yourself? save you a day and probably $50 in installation or something.

lol@ titan lift kit. :icon17:
