Maybe someone should start a simple mods thread. It'll help us getting our modding fix without blowing the bank for a FI kit, haha.

Ooh I likey! I think that's a good idea. I think a stipulation would be that the suggestion can't be cheesy.

Oh yeah, the mods should be like...less than $200.

Had a pretty good Z day. Did 5 things to the Z today.

1) Took her in for an alignment this morning now that the swift springs have had a chance to settle.

2) Repaired a scratch on the passenger door from a door ding with Dr. Colorchip. It came out pretty good but not perfect. Much better than exposed metal though.

3) Installed LED map light bulbs.

4) Installed a factory "Z" black pearl rear liscense plate frame

5) Installed factory "Z" valve stem caps

A little driving, maintanence, and modding all in one day, a week day none the less. :ughdance:

Royal Purple 5W30 oil change.
Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W-90 fluid change.
Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W-90 Rear Differential fluid change.
All done at 13,700 Miles.

Currently in the shop getting repairs done to it. She was hit twice in a four day period in the exact same spot! First was a hit and run in a parking lot (I was in the establishment at the time). Second time was a few days later where a guy backed up into me from his parking spot. Glad the guy has good insurance, they're paying for everything!

Srenity - Very interested to see you results with Dr. Colorchip. I have a scratch on my passenger door that needs tending to. As well, but I have been hesitant to try any touch up solution. You're right though, anything is better than seeing metal (which I can).

It is a great SUV. Been spending lots of time on the FJ forums. There's endless amount of mods for them.

Good Morning -- Headed to Kona for business stuff -- believe it or not.

Mt Tam I am 01-12-2012 11:08 AM

Every day for the past six weeks I have been avoiding the CHP. They have been patrolling my area more than at any previous time. I normally go months between sightings of police cars but lately, multiple vehicles. Go around one bend where they were waiting and find another a few turns later. Never has this been the case. The number of speeders can't justify the income 3 traffic patrol cops can incur vs the main freeway.

In December a CHP was hiding behind a sign, just like in the movies. I thought I was nailed at 60 in a 35 zone but when the lights came on behind me, the cop nailed a huge SUV in front of me, that must have (?) run a stop sign coming from the other direction.

Yesterday I saw the CHiP'er with his radar gun out the window while I approached at 20 MPH over the limit. His motorcycle buddy was talking to him through his window, (maybe blocking?) and I simply slowed quickly.

I have not received a ticket since 1986 but those days are numbered.

California needs more than $40 billion. I think they plan on raising it via traffic tickets. Much better than decreasing spending at the state wide level.
