Ok... I usually do just intake and exhaust and leave the HFC off so I don't have to deal with swapping cats at inspection time. I ran a tune before but I did it to get higher revs out my my G'S

I leave the cats alone on all of my street cars.

If you don't do a tune then make sure you at least reset your ecu

I have friends with the Stillen HFC's and they get a CEL light from the O2 sensors. I get no codes at all from my Berks.....

Something to consider is that the engine bay of the 370 gets extremely hot... so hot that any short-tube intake is going to get heatsoaked. The Typhoon might show some gains on the dyno (with the hood open and a massive fan blowing cool air at it), but in real world situations it could very well lose you power since you are breathing in all of that hot air.

The beauty of the stock airbox system is that the filters are contained, and they draw air directly from the outside of the engine bay. They are pretty efficient and flow pretty well up until the last 500-1000 rpms of the range. That's where the aftermarket systems will really show some gain, and the G3s do it best. They keep the filters outside of the engine bay which is important because they won't be subject to the same heatsoak issues as you would with the Typhoon and other short tube intakes.

Install will require a little bit of work, but it's very simple if you take your time and be careful.

What if I rarely redline? Are the G3's worth it for mid-range gains? I have stillen CBE and stillen HFCs in the mail. I've been looking for G3s to complete the trifecta and have it uprev'd but they are tough to find used. Thx

That's what i chose over the Stillen Gen 3 and the Top Secret titanium CAI. Caught that nice black friday sale from Z1, the best black friday deal i ever got. Now all i'm waiting for is Vanity to be delivered .

Well damn. I really thought i was only playing devils advocate and no one was actually going to change my mind(I like G3s for the look also). Plus I have to worry about high temps that don't accommodate my driving style, but hopefully I can get an oil cooler this summer.

The K&N +silicone hose setup seems pretty sweet. Better than any short tube options. Now I'll have to do more research but that is a huge savings on money and time waiting to find some G3s(not to mention havig to respond within 3minutes to have a chance on this forum).

Has anyone tried a vortec cyclone inside of their intake? I had one a long time ago in an explorer with a K&N and i was convinced it helped hp and mpg.

Sry for getting off topic but it should help the OP as well.

I googled for opinions on cyclone/tornado/vortec intake inserts and everyone says theyre bogus. Oh well

I ran G3's on my G37, you don't feel any benefit unless you are flooring the car and you pass 4600 rpm. Right now I have the mishimoto intake hoses and K&N filters. It cost me a total of $198 vs. $575. I'm happier with the hose setup. You get a slight increase in peddle response which is definately welcomed. A subtle boost in power in low rpm's. You actually lose power with the G3 down low. And a modest gain in the middle to high revs. The G3 will give you a stronger boost up high but... add an exhaust and tune with the hose and filters. I think the overall power delivery will yield more realistic use of power vs low rev power loss and higher rev power boost.

Great answer! Do u have any thoughts on adding HFCs to the K&N w/hoses and CBE? My HFCs are on their way.

Do the Berk HFC fail emissions? Also, does anyone have a good recommendation for a tuner in the Northern Va area? Right now, I have the K&N drop-ins and the Ark Prototype II exhaust. I plan on adding the Berk HFC so, would that require a tune or is an ECU reset enough for the car to adjust to the curve?
