i dont know how the laws are there, but from what i was told by the body shop that repaired my old cobalt after an old lady backed into the driver side door, they are required by law to take the original VIN sticker off the door if it has been replaced and put a new sticker on the door. Keep in mind that the replacement sticker looks nothing like the original VIN sticker that it replaces and is not in the same place alot of the time either.

Dealer's that have body shops usually give the new car salesman the est. and lets say it is $825 the new car manager knows that he will have to tell the cust. so the body shop discounts the price on paper to meet the $500 threshold.

Just a thought
This is definitely more than $500. Thanks though.

its actually legal for dealers to sell framed damaged vehicles without disclosing it..

typically what can happen is that the car got scratched up on the truck or "fell" off. or a manager who demoed it crashed it.

dealers to dealers have to disclose frame damage, dealers to customers no.

NAAA (National Auto Auction Association) considers any replaced fenders or quarter panels frame damage...

sorry to hear that.

Actually... you are wrong. That is very far from legal. Different laws in different states though. But that is not legal in NJ.

Hey guys...

Kept forgetting to give updates.

Nissan ended up only paying a payment as a "kind gesture" since it was a dealer issue (which is was). They did however contact the dealer and start things there.
I went to the dealer about a month ago.. and after about 2 hours of talking/explaining/negotiating... they agreed to do what I asked.

They took my 2009 370Z, which I owed $27,000 on. And they "gave" me a 2012 370 Touring Sport 6MT. Basically everything that my 2009 had. There were no Montery Blues anywhere around... so I ended up going with Gun Metallic.

They basically swapped out my loans. They took care of my 2009 and sold me the 2012 (MSRP $42,900) for $25,000 plus taxes and whichever.. which equaled to exactly what I owed on my 2009.

I could have gotten more out of going to a lawyer like many suggested... but as I told the dealer, I figured this would be the easiest solution for all involved. They eventually agreed. The entire process was pretty painless... just waiting for the the from out of state.

Everyone actually treated me very well. Glad it's over.

Maybe the dealer and the big shots at Nissan were reading this post and decided to act..

I think the main thing was that they took care of the issue by doing what was right. I'm glad to hear it worked out.
