Again, I love the passion!

And the embarrassment.

To be fair though, BlackZeda's first couple posts in the thread can be very easily taken to be inflamatory. Like I said, a lot of tone gets lost with words on a computer screen. We all do it. Just have to try and clarify better in the follow ups.

I think that is fair...It was meant to create a little heat for Nissan when potential customers come in asking them about problems they have read about (and seen) on forum. Now if it is effective, who knows...

For certain I do feel that I have a lot more leverage when I go into the dealership or when I speak to Nissan about issues due to the knowledge and experience I can glean from this forum.

Again, if any forum members are offended, I apologize. But if a Nissan engineer or quality engineer is reading this, I hope you feel some shame and do something about it.

Talk about inflammatory, you should read that Car and Driver article about the 5 corner-carver shootout. They were savage.

I can't bite my tongue anymore, obviously OP's frustration was directed at Nissan, and any one of us would have been upset as well. If you're not going to make a helpful post, please move on

BlackZeda --

Every car maker I know of and have experienced (I have been owning, driving, working on, rebuilding, wrecking and restoring cars for more than 36 years) has problems. Sometimes these are in a few, limited situations and sometimes the problems are more widespread.

To judge an entire company by a few issues that you have had with a single vehicle is neither logical nor fair. You like Toyotas? That's cool because they are very reliable cars; boring as all get out across the board, but reliable. Heck, my wife drives a Toyota and one of my favorite cars was my 1975 Celica. However, if you were one of the guys with the unintended acceleration problem or got your floor mat caught up in the gas pedal, you might be singing a different tune.

As far as Nissans go (z's in particular) my experience is that they are highly reliable and long-lasting. My 370 is my 11th Z car and I still have one of my 240's -- a '71. The 240z has 280,000 or so miles on it, one of my sons has a hand-me-down 1982 280zx (turbo) with more than 350,000 miles and my other son a hand-me-down 1983 280zx NA with about 360,000 miles. These are just a few examples and none of these has had major problems.

I don't know what my point is, exactly, other than to illustrate that when one is stranded it is easy to be upset and say hurtful things. Nissan makes very good cars, just like many other companies. Be patient with what probably are a few freak occurrences, be thankful that you have a good dealer to work with and don't worry so much.

I am trying to keep an open mind, but my post is more of a cautionary tale to prospective buyers.

Thanks for the insightful words!

To Nissan's credit, the reason why I went with Nissan is I used to do 100% travel for my job. Out of the many, many cars I rented, they seemed to hold up the best, and we know how we like to beat the hell out of rentals

I didn't go for a Toyota because the IS-F is just stupid looking and they can keep the paddle-shifters!
