Are you proud of this Nissan?

Went to Starbucks in the morning like I always do (since I work from home and don't commute, but want to drive my Z) and when I attempted to start....NOTHING.

So I got to sit in the parking lot for an hour waiting for a tow and the embarrassment of having a nice Corvette and Camaro drive by with the drivers probably laughing at me.

I feel like I have been had by Nissan....They aren't even close to the quality of Toyotas. Oh, and this is the second time this has happened...

Are you proud of your product Nissan?

Apoc370z 12-08-2011 07:50 PM

You are blaming the entire company based on this? I am sure the cars honda or toyota make never have this kind of problem right?

theDreamer 12-08-2011 07:50 PM

Very proud of my Nissan.

nmjaxx9 12-08-2011 07:50 PM

Honestly I wouldn't feel embarrassed because I could careless what people think but It would be upsetting for sure. I've yet to have any issues with mine and I hope your issue get resolved this time around.

Z_ealot 12-08-2011 07:52 PM

i smell a flame war coming out of this, but i'll bite....yes i am proud of my Z as it has never left me stranded in almost 10k miles of driving and is a joy to drive everyday, sorry for your luck though. you seem to be one of the few who has problems with it.

FairladyZ10PG 12-08-2011 07:58 PM

That sucks. I hope it doesn't happen the third time. Oh, and I don't think it's plausible to compare it to Toyota anymore. Remember the big recall a few years back?? Stuff happens. We just hope it doesn't happen to us. :P

KaienZ34 12-08-2011 07:59 PM

What was the issue last time around?

Red__Zed 12-08-2011 08:01 PM

sounds like you killed your battery....

Don't get me wrong, I love the car and I love driving it, but I am also jaded because I have owned 5 Toyotas since 1988 before. Of those 5 Toyotas I have had ONE problem and that was an oxygen sensor. So yes, I do blame the entire company for stranding me TWICE which hasn't happened to me before.

I may be guilty of having high standards or expectations, but I don't think you would like being in my shoes at that moment.

At the dealership I did speak to the assistant general manager and during the conversation he mentioned that Toyotas have a high amount of recalls. My reply was that Nissan should follow suit and have pride in their product and more importantly attempt to REALLY fix issues.

To their credit the dealership is very responsive and treated me right. But it is the same concept to me when you get the wrong order at McDonald's...."Dude...it is your only job to get the order right". Likewise, a car's purpose is to GO...and even more so with a high-performance version. And it has let me down twice.

I guess I am the only one that considers my time valuable.

Sorry if I have offended anyone, but I can't help but feel embarrassed that I thought Nissan would be of the same quality as Toyota. That's on me.

The first time was the IPDM, this time it was the steering wheel lock.

Skeeterbop 12-08-2011 08:10 PM

I know it sucks and can sympathize with you, I wouldn't blame the entire company. I'll just leave it at that.

no offense taken, everyone has issues with cars at least once in their life and as far as makes of cars i personally dont think it really matters as far as which manufacturers have more problems than others. Hell my parents owned a toyota 4runner and that thing had a hell of alot of problems before my parents finally got rid of it, mostly to do with the drivetrain.
