IC,
Since you seem pretty set on getting a 370z, what shade of gray have you decided on? |

Anyway, on the subject. I never did have a vette. I'm just not a chevy fan at all. I don't know why. The Vette just never appealed to me though it's not a bad looking car... hard to explain I guess. There are also a lot of them. There is one guy who has a white 370 convertible that lives local to me, but honestly I have not seen very many of them in my area. I can count 20 vettes anytime I take a 20 minute trip to the movies or out to dinner. I did have an 06 and then an 08 Evo. Talk about a cheap interior? ... and paint!?!?!? SHIIIIIIIT, you don't know cheap paint until you drive one of those for 2000 miles and it's got little chips ALL over the front and around the wheel wells. Not to mention the paint is also sandblasted in those areas. I bought and drove an MS3 for about 5k miles, and it had some really cool stuff about it, and was a pretty decent car, but to do much upgrading you have to buy either fuel interals or a new fuel pump which is at least 350.00. The Z was a car I had always wanted. I was close to buying a Z32 on several occasions, but never went through with it. I pulled the trigger on the 370 because I liked it, liked that it put out decent power, interior was nice, seats were IMO very comfortable, car handles exceptionally well, the wheels and the car in general look good right out of the box and don't make me want to buy wheels for it or upgrade the brakes or anything (unless I track the car), and to be quite honest, there aren't that many NA mods, so I knew I wouldn't blow to much money on it like I did my Evo. To much modding is just to much trouble IMO. So I bought the base 6MT with sport package got the F.I exhaust (there is no drone unless the car is under load by the way) got the ART pipes which REALLY woke the car up. I will do something with the intake, MAYBE get some 3.96 or whatever they are gears and that's it. I have a mid 12 second car on a good day and that's good enough for me. Like I said... I don't know about owning a vette, but I do know that i'm picky about my car as it is... my Fiancee has convinced me now that it's just a car and that I have spent some much time worrying about every little rock chip and such that I don't get a chance to enjoy it as much. I can't imagine owning a very very expensive car would be like for me. So now I just drive it, park it in the right places, enjoy keeping it clean and driving it is a real pleasure.. I really look forward to driving it... i'm quite happy with it. |
You get attention in both cars. The Corvette definitely attract a much older crowd while the Z attracts younger one, but it might partially be the Buick dark red vs the Smurf Blue too.
I don't know what's more annoying. The C4 piece of crap guys saying they have the same car as me or the 280Z guys saying their cars are close to the 370 |
I was considering a C6 when I was looking at the Nismo. I didn't buy the C6 due to lack of gold chains and chest hair.

People will want to race you all the time with the Z. Most people know better with the Z06, but everybody and their mother wants a piece of the Z! It's going to get a lot of attention.
Mine was red and got a TON of looks. People want to talk about it all the time. People want to race it all the time. People want to stare at it all the time... it's great if you like being the center of attention! Let's be honest, no one out there doesn't like a bit of positive attention. It's nice cruising by the clubs late at night and causing everyone in line to turn and stare. The Z is super sexy, and there's not much out there that looks like it, so you're going to have to get used to the attention. ;) |

The base C6 vettes are fast and great, but the looks are too subtle for me. Z06s are sexy as ****. Can't wait to see what they do with the C7. |

If you go by performance alone, the Z06 is definitely a supercar. But if you factor in the other bits that you get with a Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti, etc... it isn't. |
I love the vette, i had a SC'ed 383 stroked C3 Vette. I wanted a C6 and looked a good bit and test drove a few, but in the end there were just way to many on the road. I still think they are badazz and look when i see them on the road every day. Other than my Z there is only 6 370 in town, i see lambos more offten than 370s. The Vette will always hold a special spot in my heart as it was my first car love.

Odd.370z is very common here. About like a mustang 5.0.

Every 3-5 cars rolling around in Central Texas are Mustangs in various years models and trim levels. I thing they are pretty good for what you get, but I have had my fill. I see a lot of Z33/V35s out there on the orad these days, but I credit that to deployment spending and such. I can cound on both hands how many Z34s there are in my area. I see them even less when I go home to Baltimore on leave. On the other hand, there is ONE ZR1 here (that I have seen)........ |
Well if we're talking ZR1's i've only seen 4 on the road here. Nowhere near as common as a normal C6, hell even my 60yr old neighbor has a yellow vert C6 with a black stripe down the center.
|
When I was out at ft hood I saw a ZR1 at a car meet. I think i saw maybe 5 different 370z before moving to el paso (was at fort hood for roughly 2 months)
|
Cop in my apt complex has had two 370s, there are 1 or 2 outside the hospital I work at most Monday mornings (same cars, employee). Hmmm... off the top of my head those are the cars I see every day.

Part of it almost seems like you've just come here to brag a bit about your car, and tell us how common ours is around there ... like there isn't a million vettes driving around with 70 year old men with their 20 year old bought and paid for girlfriends next to them hoping they are added to the will. |

In Chicagoland where I get to see many great cars as the income level is extremely diverse around here. I see 1-2 other 370 a week, tops. And I drive a LOT. Vettes, well I cant go anywhere without seeing 1-2 every 10 min. Z06 is different.. 1-2 a week tops like a 370. ZR1 almost never I see more exotics than zr1 by far
|
Why does everyone have to get worked up when someone mentions they see a lot of 370s? They sell like hot cakes in certain areas of the country and in others they are pretty scarce. I typically see 5+ a day on my commute to and from work. There have been days where I've spotted 10+. They are popular. But I still see more 911s. :icon17:

If you want a Z however, it's IMO a great car that is pretty underrated by many. I feel it's impressive in it's performance right from stock, but then again some people will disagree. I've added mods as most here have, but it's a very quiet car inside in it's stock form, but I have to say that if I were to do one thing, it would always be adding the ART pipes.. it just really added a nice jump in power with a little bit of an exhaust growl, but now that they are broken in they are very mild. The new ART pipes don't even require a break-in period. |
I'll also add that for me, even with a base model with the sport package.. it doesn't hurt my back to drive in it for a while, and I have scoliosis, so most cars hurt my back. It's an extremely comfortable car.

I drove it 1,000 miles in a day once and felt it was pretty comfortable as long as you take regular breaks. For me, my bladder would fill up before I could get uncomfortable because of the ride. :icon17:
It's actually quite a good highway cruiser. The suspension is very compliant. |

I don't really care, though. I know some people want to drive something that isn't commonly seen on the road, but I just want to drive whatever gets my rocks off at any given time. I'm pretty agnostic when it comes to what I drive. Either way, if you are concerned with how the Z stands out I don't think you need to worry. There could be a million of them in your area but they still command a double take no matter how long you've seen them. Should be enough to satisfy the attention whore in everyone. |

I was thinking about adding the nismo catback at purchase. |
