Sometimes sound is all you want, though. My mufflers were $600 and don't add a lick of power, but they sound good. :icon17:

I'm not tracking on your logic.

Has Nissan had a history for warranty blocking drive-lines?

GM will block you for a CAI. What is Nissan's philosophy, and has anyone had their engine replaced, regardless of a minor mod?

Exactly, sound is good enough, but from what I have heard the Berk CB is good, and has NO drone. Thoughts? Will Nissan block my driveline warranty for that?

KaienZ34 10-31-2011 09:05 AM

I know it's not the same question you've asked but BB (Jamaica) got his 7AT replaced under warranty after he installed the GTM stg II SC kit.

It depends on the dealership, some dealerships will overlook your mods unless they directly effect the part you are replacing. Others can go so far as to deny your warranty and submit pictures of your mods to Nissan HQ, incase you ever dispute it.

Very true each dealership is different. I was just giving him one scenario/case.

There is going to be NO warranty implication for a CBE. You start running into a gray area if you mess with the cats/headers.

Just keep your stock exhaust in storage for peace of mind. If you ever need to go in for service it's an easy swap.

Yeah, it looks easy enough. What is the best cb powerwise (I understand on the z you can get an honest 20whp from some?) That has NO! drone?

Drone is a touchy subject. Everyone wants to defend their exhaust, and "drone" can sometimes be subjective.

The FI CBE will give you up to 20whp, but in my experience it drones quite a lot under load.

The Stillen CBE is also good for nearly the same gains. It's quieter than FI. Not really sure on any drone.

Berk should be in the same range power wise and from what I have experienced there is NO drone with just the Berk CBE. I installed b1adesofcha0s' system and rode along / drove it a bit and liked what I heard.

Not really sure on the others. I have seen dyno charts on the NISMO CBE showing around 8-12whp, and I know for a fact there is absolutely zero drone with those systems. The only downside is they aren't quite as loud as the other options.

For a DD I lean towards Berk or NISMO depending on the sound you want.

Yeah my Berk CBE has no drone and sounds great over stock as well. The butt dyno definitely felt the gains as soon as it was installed

win!

Can you order instantly, or is there a wait period while it is built?

PS. Does ANYONE know if we will get 2012 370Z's any time soon with a NAV? Dealer says no.

Yeah I think there are plenty of vendors on here who have them in stock. As far as I've heard about the 2012's, it varies by area. Some already have a couple 2012's on the lots while others have none at all.

My dealer says they don't exist.
NO 370z for 2012 with NAV, Touring, Sport, 6M. Cannot even be ordered.

m4a1mustang 10-31-2011 10:48 AM

Sounds like you need a new dealer.

Whole South does. They don't exist.

(Find one and you get an E-cookie. Find one in Gun Metallic, Coupe, M6, NAV, Sport, Touring, Black leather, and I'll buy it later this week if the numbers are straight and it's nearby.)

Try to contact one of the supporting forum dealers. They know what's up and can help you out.

KaienZ34 10-31-2011 11:15 AM

It let me build one so i don't see why you couldn't order it. My guess is that dealer just wants you to get something they have on their lot.

Build Your Nissan | Nissan USA Done in every flavor you wanted.

Then they fail at earning my business. I can build it, too, but they *claim* they cannot order it. I also did not see ANY on autotrader with NAV, which kind-of corroborates their story.

^^ i honestly still cant believe your trading a Z06 for a 370z...I read through some of your reason and they seem pretty minor in comparison to what you are giving up for the z....is there another reason...payments....i just cant imagine making this move...they are both impractical....your gonna miss the POWER...trust me

I agree with you, trading the Z06 for a 370Z is IMO a big downgrade.

b1adesofcha0s 10-31-2011 11:58 AM

I think the big reason was that he wanted to buy a house........

I dont know if he hits the track much, but going from 505 to 330HP on the street means almost nothing lol. Once you hit the speed limit, who cares? Does that brief moment of extreme acceleration mean so much?

People buy what they buy because they want it...who cares what their reasons are.

Unless its a rotary motor. Fvck Wankles.

I get used to stuff fast. My z06 no-longer feels any faster than my old ls1 f-body. I know I have to draw the line somewhere. The Z06, I rarely drive because I freak over every minor imperfection possible from road debris, etc. It has become a very expensive paperweight that I am scared to park anywhere for fear of vandals, etc. In short, I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as I could something less flamboyant.

That and I'm moving where there are far more turns than straights, interior, want to buy a house/land, etc.

505 bhp is worthless on the street except for felonious blasts on the freeway. Boring after the first few.

And I think you just echo-ed exactly what I assumed was the case.

Good for you for being in the minority of "Car people" who realize that on the street, those numbers dont mean much. Fvck, you can have fun in a mini-van if you know how to drive...

Z's are pretty flamboyant. my wheels got stolen off my Z in my own driveway within a month. Whenever it was parked anywhere people would look at it. if you want something low profile, the Z isn't the right choice.

I enjoy my 145bhp G20, lol. It's fun hitting the lines just right through corners even in it.

NewYorkJon34 10-31-2011 12:07 PM

Is your Z06 payed off? The 370z is def not vandal free, so be careful.

How is the Z06 in the rain? I know the newer PS2's are a much better tire than the goodyears were. I'm kinda debating between a 08-09 Z06 & a 2011-2012 GT500

Ugg, if you like handling, that choice should be obvious...I think the GT500's are one of the biggest wastes of money out there.

Z06 is not payed off...hence wanting smaller payments.
Never drove it in the rain, dunno.

Z06/GT500 are like truck vs. SUV. Totally different.

2 different cars I know, just the only 2 V8 powered cars I'd consider buying.

I'd have the same freak paranoia in the Z or the Z06 about people parking, door dings, road debris...i think that just comes with loving cars in general.....they handle relatively the same. I can see it if your trying to get a house though, thats definately a good reason. I, Personally, could never make this change...LOL @ how 332hp is totally usable on streets too

GZ3 10-31-2011 12:27 PM

Like I said before, yes. I drive it 2-3x/mo. I want something a but cheaper so I am not as paranoid about it and can have more fun w/it, afford more other stuff, etc etc. I have owned my supercar, btdt now.

I want to retire by the time I am 45 or so, and if I keep buying $75K cars every time one comes out that I like, I'll never do that. The Z06 is a helluva fun car, but no NAV, sub-standard sets, blah blah blah make it a 1-trick pony. Track-use only unless you want to live with a LOT of compromises. I had to own one to figure it out myself, and that said, I would do it all over again the same way in a heartbeat! It's worth having as a life experience I think. I own/owned one of the fastest production cars in the world, watched it made over several days at the factory, etc. etc. Once in a life-time stuff for me.

All that said, what, am I going to keep it forever? No. Am I going to buy another $75K car trying to buy land and a house? No. So, why not buy that land/house faster, enjoy a nicer interior in a car I'm not scared to park at work, and buy whatever is out when I'm in my 40's and have all the important stuff paid for?

I bought the Z06 because GM was in trouble and I got it WAAAYYYY under MSRP and I had NOTHING on my credit at all except a little $750 credit-card, a $1000 loan, and a $2500 line of credit. It has provided proof of accountability to the bank, so that land/house will not be an issue. They see the note I pay for that without having trouble, a house for a few bones more won't be a big deal at all when I throw 40 acres or so down as collateral.

It's all about me striking when the iron was hot regarding purchasing a car that historically went for MSRP or more, wanting to build my credit-score, being under contract to live here for 2 years and NOT wanting to buy anything to tie me to the area, and a high-school dream come true. I always try my hardest to fulfill my dreams. This was one of them from highschool: Viper or Z06.

Currently my next "dream" is a bit less $$, but still cool. Silenced AR-15 project well underway :yum:

To me, cars are all about fun. Not having to have the biggest **** on the block. I could care less. I want to smile for the sake of my own enjoyment!

kenchan 10-31-2011 01:21 PM

so are we going to talk about my dreams now? :icon17:
