We know what your dreams are about.

Kenchan hikes through the Charburger mountains where streams of cheese flow freely through the troughs of charred delicious hamburger meaty goodness. He stops for a drink of cheese, and takes a nice bite out of a rock formation made of charburger. Nomnomnom.

That sounds like a darn good dream. Think nothing of your worries but to swim in meat and cheese!

I want to retire by the time I am 45 or so, and if I keep buying $75K cars every time one comes out that I like, I'll never do that. The Z06 is a helluva fun car, but no NAV, sub-standard sets, blah blah blah make it a 1-trick pony. Track-use only unless you want to live with a LOT of compromises. I had to own one to figure it out myself, and that said, I would do it all over again the same way in a heartbeat! It's worth having as a life experience I think. I own/owned one of the fastest production cars in the world, watched it made over several days at the factory, etc. etc. Once in a life-time stuff for me.

All that said, what, am I going to keep it forever? No. Am I going to buy another $75K car trying to buy land and a house? No. So, why not buy that land/house faster, enjoy a nicer interior in a car I'm not scared to park at work, and buy whatever is out when I'm in my 40's and have all the important stuff paid for?

I bought the Z06 because GM was in trouble and I got it WAAAYYYY under MSRP and I had NOTHING on my credit at all except a little $750 credit-card, a $1000 loan, and a $2500 line of credit. It has provided proof of accountability to the bank, so that land/house will not be an issue. They see the note I pay for that without having trouble, a house for a few bones more won't be a big deal at all when I throw 40 acres or so down as collateral.

It's all about me striking when the iron was hot regarding purchasing a car that historically went for MSRP or more, wanting to build my credit-score, being under contract to live here for 2 years and NOT wanting to buy anything to tie me to the area, and a high-school dream come true. I always try my hardest to fulfill my dreams. This was one of them from highschool: Viper or Z06.

Currently my next "dream" is a bit less $$, but still cool. Silenced AR-15 project well underway :yum:

To me, cars are all about fun. Not having to have the biggest **** on the block. I could care less. I want to smile for the sake of my own enjoyment!

Anyway, looks like I am keeping my Z06. Nissan isn't building the 370Z the way I want it. Worse things have happened :tiphat:

Just saying, if I can't have what I want, why give up what I spec'ed part by part? Screw Nissan if they won't build a 370Z with a 6-speed and NAV. I can take my business elsewhere, or just keep what I have as I DO enjoy it. Either way, I'm not buying a 370Z I kindof like. I'd only spring for one that was loaded the way I wanted it.

m4a1mustang 10-31-2011 03:24 PM

Why the hell won't they build a 6spd with nav? There are plenty of 6 spds with nav!!!

kenchan 10-31-2011 03:25 PM

Where? Know of one? I'll buy it if the numbers are right:

2012
Gun-metal
6-speed standard
Touring
Sport
NAV
Black Leather
PREFER...splash guards and lit door-sills, but not necessary.

No kidding there is. Everyone says it can't be done. Both Nissan dealers in my town, and a guy on the forum who have access to what Nissan is/is not shipping.

Why they are somehow out of NAV's/not putting them in the 370Z, I have no idea. There are only 2 cars coming to US soil like I want between now and the end of the year as I understand it, and both are in Cali. I don't think that's going to work for me with the trade-in and all...

NewYorkJon34 10-31-2011 03:29 PM

You know you could just add in the factory navigation after you buy the car right?

ImportConvert 10-31-2011 03:30 PM

Sorry for getting bent out of shape over it, but I was all pumped about the Z and finding out that Nissan isn't putting NAVs in the car configured how I want except for 2 lonely examples across the US from me ticks me off. I need some sleep. Had a bad weekend at work and am up WAY past my bedtime testing some new TSX 50gr 5.56 ammo that arrived in the mail last week :)

Yes, I could, but something about that just doesn't appeal to me, logical or not. I do not want something that some dealership employee spliced on if I can AT ALL avoid it.

GZ3 10-31-2011 03:32 PM

you have a Z0000, life is good

Yes, yes it is. I'm not complaining in the least, but was hoping for a bit of a change as detailed throughout the thread.

If Nissan cannot produce the car I want by the end of the year I will just slap some PS2-ZP's and Avery Denison film on the 'vette and call it good. Will quiet down the ride a lot and the new wrap is a ton better than the Ventureshield currently on it in my opinion.

Since I'm not going to go thru 20 pages?

I/C have you possibly looked into a 2011?

You'll probably save some money also

No, I would not consider a 2011. I want the new oil cooler, and whatever "silent" changes Nissan has made to the car. I firmly believe that manufacturers make many changes year-to-year that we know nothing about, in specific, but that nonetheless enhance the vehicle in a tangible manner.

m4a1mustang 10-31-2011 03:47 PM

That's odd that you can't order the car configured like that because it's such a common configuration for the 09-11s. Must be a supply shortage somewhere.

kenchan 10-31-2011 03:48 PM

or lower demand on MT's in general...

Like their governments, society increasingly wants their transmissions to do everything for them.

GZ3 10-31-2011 03:49 PM

the Z is too much fun for AT IMHO....

I was told by my dealership it is NAV supply shortage, hence why the Altimas (or was it Maxima?) are not getting NAV right now, either.

Sorry, tired, should take it more in stride, maybe things will get better in a few months.
NAV's cannot even be bought by the dealership as stand-alone items currently from what I understand.

Well at least when someone wants their transmission to do things for them they don't try to get ME to pay for it.

I'm sure we subsidize part of it somehow. :icon17:

b1adesofcha0s 10-31-2011 04:02 PM

I think if you give it like 2-3 months you should be able to find them easily. Unless you have some reason to get it all done before the end of the year I think it would be worth the wait. Why ruin you're whole plan just because you can't wait another month or two? I think you just need to get some rest and think about it calmly later.

Bank is giving a great rate until the end of the year, and....solid advice.

Valid reason. I would still look into the option even at the beginning of next year. Rate might not be all that different and still could be enough to save you a lot of money over keeping the Z06.

I just want the OPTION of having my transmission do everything for me. I like my flappy paddles :p
