I thought I was the only person who ever owned one of those, much less heard of one!

FWIW, their reply to my email on the matter is below. I thought no harm in asking for a recall or tsb -- after all they can just say "no".
Anywho... October 12, 2011 File # 7283034 Thank you for taking the time to personally contact us. After reviewing your comments, we will need to do some further research to be able to adequately address your issue. Please allow us an additional five to seven days to meet with the appropriate experts at Nissan and we will have a detailed response back to you within that time frame. If we can be of additional assistance in the meantime, please contact us at 1-800-647-7261. At Nissan, we are committed to a high level of customer service. Sincerely, Nissan North America Karina Eraldo Consumer Affairs Representative Nissan Consumer Affairs From: nnaconsumeraffairs@nissan-usa.com Sent: Monday, October 10, 2011 05:32 AM To: NNA Consumer Affairs Subject: Nissan Products comments : I understand that the 2012 370Z models will be equipped with oil coolers standard. That's great for new customers, as this motor has a persistent problem with running at higher than ideal oil temps, even in normal driving conditions. Nissan needs to make the oil cooler available to owners who bought their car 2009-2011 (at minimum to those who are still under their drivetrain warranty). The oil cooler should be offered either as part of a recall or TSB, with the parts and labor either waived or greatly discounted, and protected under the customers remaining drivetrain warranty. You will be hearing similar suggestions from thousands of owners -- take this seriously and do what is right for your loyal customers.

-Base model Z's will ship with an oil-to-water cooler, as previously speculated (can't remember who said that?) -sport package models will be available with 19 row coolers standard, and a 34 row updgrade available. No pricing is confirmed yet, but they mentioned the upgrade should be under $500. Sport package cost will most likely be raised as well, though it is not known for sure yet that it will be -Increased sound deadening material. They won't advertise it substantially, but they attempted to quiet down the road noise just a little bit -adjusted intake resonator-- apparently designed to help quiet the NVH concerns -Nismo finned diff cover will be standard--apparently the bean-counters finally understood the risks of an overheating diff, and are at least making the appearance of an effort to fix things -Brake ducting will be available through the fangs as an add-on kit. It was apparently supposed to offered from the beginning, but a clean-looking kit was never fully finished. The genteman I spoke with was 99% sure it would be backwards-compatible. -retrofit oil-to-water coolers will be available with full warranty protection. The oil-to-air coolers WILL NOT be available under warranty -most importantly, your mother has grown frightful after your recent engagement at the schoolyard, and the cab is on it's way to pick you up for the trip to Bel Air. |

hmm the option costs the same as what many of us paid to get our own coolers. At least this way the magazine editors testing future models will stop complaining.

It is good they are doing something fresh
The principal issue has really been due to bell-shape front end, which cuts airflow to the brakes. Last edited by Red__Zed; 10-12-2011 at 05:04 PM. |
