that's because you still need practice. there should be no slip when downshifting.

I've never driven a car with SRM (well, besides my 7AT lol). I'm not sure what you mean by no slipping on downshift. Do you just pop the clutch once you move the shifter into the gate of the downshift? You don't ease it out at all under normal driving?

haha, yah, with AT you have no worries. i gently engage both up and downshifts but that doesn't mean it's slipping.

even with SRM, if im downshifting with mild braking i slightly tap the throttle to rev match even more.

Huh? Unless you just do a full on dump, you are always slipping the interface of the clutch disc: its just the Time(Delta) that it takes from dis-engaged to engaged that promotes wear.

Driven near 500K miles on manual transmission's in the last 20 years, and have only replaced a single disc due to surface wear (and that was because the 1.6 OEM Miata clutch doesn't take kindly to 12psi of boost...aftermarket solved that quickly). I think am ready for the big leagues with respect to my clutch skills
