How About Nissan Diagnostic Interface Tool

I saw a Nissan Consult 14 Pin Diagnostic Interface Tool at tmart.com,but i was wondering how reliable is tmart.com? Their prices seem to be good and I was wondering if they are ok to deal with.Has anyone ever dealt with it?could you give me some suggestions?

Whats the difference in a Nissan diag tool and just being able to pull sensor data and CEL codes?

I use my HTC Evo 4G android phone and the Torque app along with a bluetooth OBD II adapter to read the codes, clear them, and check sensor data on my cars.

This. except i have a droid 3. Torque works awesome with the bluetooth adapter. check ebay for it, i got it for 28 bucks shipped...

From the description given -- "retrieves and resets OBDII codes" -- it sounds like any number of commonly available scan tools available at any auto parts store, usually with prices starting at about $40.

Is it just because it's cheap?

This is a non-OEM product

Bah, I have a same thing but cost me $90 and it plugs into my laptop with lots of information.

I've played with our OBD-II interface a lot, with Torque and other tools. Any OBD-II software can pull most of the common stats from our car, and read/reset the normal CEL/MIL stuff. However, there's a whole other mode (or two) that's OEM-specific and none of the aftermarket tools know how to read them properly. The non-standard codes include stuff like working outputs for Oil Temp, Trans Temp, several detailed bits of information about timing and VVEL operation, etc. I actually have a partial list of hex codes for these that I uh, "found" somewhere, but I have been unable to crack using this mode from a tool like Torque (yet...).

Nissan's factory Consult III tool that the dealerships have can read these OEM codes, and they've licensed it to a few others (e.g. UpRev's Cipher can read them as well). I highly doubt that the product in the t-mart link does anything special in this regard, unless it comes with some licensed software.

cheap is the one reason,btw i was interested in new things ,tmart.com looks like a new shopping website.if the things are good and cheap,why not have a try.

cheap is one reason,their things are cheap.

I bought a $30 piece from Amazon, it isnt too bad. It is not bluetooth, I have to lug it around with a laptop. I have my old HF scanner for sale if you guys want one
