jdmpw shift knob question

ok this maaaaay be a dumb question but why does the jpm pw shift knob have what looks to be a hex head on the top? i like the knob a lot but don't know if i like that hex looking piece on top....

So you can center the logo ring once you have the knob tightened down. You canals change the ring color as well.

This is a nice feature of the knob.
