So, perhaps a lot of people buy their cars for everyone else (to impress, draw attention, etc), so they assume others do too. Not me. And the last thing I care about is what anybody else thinks (except my wife and kids). Once you achieve that, you are truly free.

This thread makes me LOL! I've already bagged my woman, and don't care what others think about my ride! Granted, I just love the look of the Z to the level that I still find myself looking back at it as I walk into work...but the car is FOR me, not others.

That article is a summary of a study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology (JPSP as all the cool academics call it), which is one of the premiere journals in psychology. If I can get my hands on the original, I'll share the details of how the study was conducted. The popular press tends to mangle the findings of research studies to make them sound more interesting.

Fortunately for those single male Z owners, no one pays attention to the BBC, or the JPSP (except nerdy psychologists and graduate students).
