I bought mine without, yes without so obviously I must be cheap or broke. However I opted to go without it because I had Nav in my truck which never got used. But now I wish I did get it even simply for the fact it looks nice. In the end I'm gonna have to spend the same amount on a aftermarket unit.

I bought mine without nav because I didn't want it. I don't use nav. I use that cubby constantly, though.
But if you plan to get nav, if you really like nav systems, then why not get the Nissan Nav option? |

I wanted the Nav as well, I personally think its worth it. But I didn't want to get the touring package just to get the Nav. If Nissan provided the Nav option on the Base, I would have spent the 3k.

I think the additional features over aftermarket is a good reason to have it - touchscreen iPod interface, touchscreen bluetooth phone interface, nice status display of range, climate control settings, audio settings, convenience settings, fuel mileage record, Maintenance reminders, integrated in a good position for easy viewing, backup camera included in 2011 with Nav, XM Satellite receiver is included.

we, (wife and i), did not get the NAV/touring package, and honestly we wish we did after having the nav/leather package in the maxima. we use the music box a lot. every now and then we use the nav and it's nice to know we have it....i wish we had the nav in the Z for the integration as others have stated.

There is no way it is worth 3K however I would probably get it if I were doing it all over again

![]() Now the 3K integrated setup. ![]() BTW, to be fair I tried to find equal quality images. Anyway, what anyone deems worthy of their money is none of my business. I agree, I would never spend 3K on the nav unit alone. But you have to consider everything you're getting which includes, flush look, proper location, integration with climate control, steering wheel buttons, etc... you'll never achieve these with an aftermarket setup for 3K. |

In my opinion, the NAV system is not worth the price. Nissan lists 9 key features of the package. Let's look at them.
USB Connectivity - great feature, pretty much standard on every after-market double-DIN system XM Traffic XM Weather Zagat - These are cool, especially at first. But smart phones have these and better. It will also run you $30+ per month to keep these features. 9.3GB Music box - Really? Less than 10GB? You already have USB, why is this a feature? Navigation - Integrated touch screen or not, there's no excuse for this being a $2000 option anymore. Portable units are so cheap these days that it doesn't even pay to upgrade the maps anymore. Bluetooth - Great feature. But it's insanely cheap and simple these days. Should be included, or a cheap dealer installed option. DVD playback - Again, really??? You can play movies while parked? A portable DVD player is under $200, plugs into the 12V jack, and can be used while driving (by the passenger). Nissan did a great job integrating the system into the Z, and it's really easy to use all the features. But it's just too expensive. That said, I do have the NAV package in my Roadster. But I got one of the last 2010's in the May special sale, and the only one I could get with the packages I wanted had the NAV also. I told them I'd only take it if the price of the NAV was taken out, and it was. |

![]() Got to love forums and all the senseless bickering. ![]() For me, and me alone, it boils down to these things: First, I find it to be nothing more than an expensive toy that adds little or nothing other than convenience and fancy looks. For less money I can have all the same features, whether after market, a smart phone, an ipod/ipad, a portable DVD player, a portable navigation unit, or other things. So if you have the money and want convenience and better looks, by all means, buy it. I'll spend my money else where, because I'm not that well off. No worries. ![]() Second, I spend 97% of my time in the same town that I've lived in for years. There is zero need for me to have a navigation device at home. For trips with my wife, since we also have an SUV, we most likely won't be taking this car. On long trips to strange cities where navigation would be cool to have, we would fly anyway, so what good does it do me sitting in the car at home? None. Besides, again, a smart phone is a better thing when traveling to strange places because it can do so much more. Third, I'm not directionally challenged. Some people I know can't find their arses in broad daylight. Both my wife and I are not one of those people. We have gone on many trips to strange cities over the years and never had an problems. Forth, I already own a portable DVD player, so no need for that. Not that I would ever use it in my 2 seater sports car anyway. We've never used it in our Solstice for sure. Fifth, I already have a 160 ipod which is mostly full, so that music box thing is a waste for me. Bottom line, for ME, it's a total waste of money. A total waste, like throwing it out the window. ![]() For you, it may be the best thing you ever paid for; something no stranger can help you with. The decision is yours based on your money reserves, your lifestyle, your traveling habits, your ability to "self find" your way around, and how important it is to look cool inside. Good hunting. |
