370z Nav Package

Before I ask the question, just want to say I'm a long term lurker here and is almost ready to get the 370z. I know many of you will tell me to use the search button and ofcourse I have. I just want to get a few more inputs from you guys. The question is to NAV or not to NAV. I do like the OEM nav that comes with it but for the price of 3000 is it worth it. Or is it better to go with aftermarket? I know this question has been beat many times, but i just want to get more justifications for each until I decide. Thanks all!

I like the integration with the rest of the car but I can not say this is worth $3K. I only use the music box and it is excellent. I got NAV because they threw it in at $32,900.

Decision is ultimately up to you. For me, I chose to go WITHOUT the nav, because of cost (like you said $3k is still $3k), and since I already have a couple of high end hand held navi's that I could move from vehicle to vehicle, I chose not to go with the OEM NAV.

I'm happy with my choice... I chose to use the $3k on the sport package instead ;) Don't get me wrong, the OEM NAV is NICE. I would have loved to have it... but because of cost and because of the convenience of hand held GPS's, the OEM NAV was moot to me.

Besides, there are a lot of folks who have installed aftermarket NAVs into the console... they look pretty darned sweet!

KravMaga 06-15-2011 03:30 PM

I got the NAV and like it. I like the way it integrates into the console. Probably not worth the money in itself, but it saved me the headache of choosing, buying, and then installing an aftermarket one. Now that I have it, I like it, and like it's features. But then again, my only other NAV before this were handhelds.

You are not going to get a good answer here from this forum. I have it and think its great. No matter what is said by others there is no DOWNSIDE to the OEM Nav unit. It is well integrated and looks good.

If you can afford it, get it. It is expensive compared to portable GPS's but.......A portable GPS wont help the value of the car.

If you notice....the guy who said he did not want it.....has a base 370. My opinion is that the CHEAP guys....with little or NO money....will say its not worth it. These are also the same guys who have Ventus V12 tires on their cars and think they are good.....I have Advan Neovas and think think the V12's are cheap junk.

Whoa whoa whoa buddy.... Take it easy there bro. I think you're way off base in your comments there, sir. Just because I opted NOT to get the navi option means I'm "cheap" and have "little or NO money"??????????

You serious?

If I choose to spend my money elsewhere on other things that I deem more valuable, maybe not even Z related, that means I am CHEAP and have NO MONEY? LOL. $3k is $3k is $3k.

Dude, you crack me up. I'll let you keep thinking that. Don't mind the fact that I paid for my Z up front.

What a moronic post.

Not only that, it's downright insulting to those people (not only on this forum) who really did NOT have the $$$ to spend to get the Nav option. Why would you even put them down like that?

Nor will it hurt it. If you buy a vehicle with the Nav option, you have already put it in the extra $$$ to get it in the first place, where as those folks who did not get the nav option, did not spend the extra $$$. That's what you call a "sunk" cost.

True, a nav equipped vehicle may be worth more at value than a non-nav equipped vehicle, but at initial purchase, the nav-equipped vehicle cost more in the first place. So your statement is null.

Sometimes, folks are so eager to post without thinking. Spend a little time thinking about what you post... it will put you in a better light and give you more credibility.

Reminds me of a saying: "It is better to be silent and be thought of a fool than to speak and remove all doubt."

I use it mostly for it's other features, more than the actual GPS feature itself. It's great for navigating through music folders, climate controls status, phonebooks, fuel economy graphs, etc. Plus, the clock keeps better time than the dash clock. It's a lot more than just maps.

For the RECORD...I also paid cash for my car AND the $20,000 in upgrades. I dont agree with your thoughts on the Nav as MOST if not ALL finance or lease these cars and $3000 will make very little difference in the monthly payment.

I ALWAYS THINK FIRST and still think they are CHEAP!

Roadster4Us 06-15-2011 04:25 PM

I wasn't going to buy my Z without one. I knew I wanted a touring sport and wasn't going to put a handheld in the car and had no interest in installing an aftermarket system. It is a very nice looking unit, well integrated and performs very well. If you want nav and you can afford it I would highly recommend it. Its definitely not cheap but I think it is well worth it. Hope this helps.

Good for you that you paid cash AND the $20k in upgrades. Wonderful. Great.

In the end, that's fine if you think that way, but the way you come off, some folks (including myself) may/will find you with your nose way up in the air. Just show a little more class when you speak, and you'll be fine.

theDreamer 06-15-2011 04:28 PM

I did not get Nav because I had to get the touring package which I did not need.
I am ripping my seats out for better ones, found a better aftermarket Nav and so I opted not to get it and saving the cash for other things.

Thanks DAD.....

I bought mine without, yes without so obviously I must be cheap or broke. However I opted to go without it because I had Nav in my truck which never got used. But now I wish I did get it even simply for the fact it looks nice. In the end I'm gonna have to spend the same amount on a aftermarket unit.

shadoquad 06-15-2011 04:52 PM

I bought mine without nav because I didn't want it. I don't use nav. I use that cubby constantly, though.

But if you plan to get nav, if you really like nav systems, then why not get the Nissan Nav option?

007MI6 06-15-2011 04:58 PM

I got mine WITH NAV for many reasons, but mainly these. I LOVE:leghump: the integration of the factory installed, over any aftermarket options. None of which, in my opinion, look good once installed. Integration, Integration, Integration! I know people will argue about the quality, but for my means it is excellent. And just like real estate...Location, Location, Location! And in my opinion you can't beat the location of the factory unit. :twocents:

Notice the emphasis that this is just my honest opinion. :p
