Nissan Planning Product Blitz: Eight New Models in Next Two Years | AutoGuide.com News

Nissan is coming out with 8 new models over the next 24 months. I got this article over in the Juke forums as I plan on replacing my altima with a juke along with my new Z. If that ellure concept is the next altima I may wait on the trade for a juke? I test drove the juke and that engine is a fun little torquey motor. I hope nissan plans on some type of silvia for that engine? I also hope some plans for the Z are included?

I was hoping for this news because many nissan models are outdated even compared to hyundais and kias. Finally some exciting news from Nissan.

That's very probable. It's a low volume car why focus on development $$$ on it.

now, it makes me wonder if they will kill it.

I was thinking that too. But in an attempt to think positive. I thought of one more possibility. Maybe they will do what they did from 90-96 which is make a Z in both 2 and 4 seats. Also an NA and turbo version??? That would be great and t makes sense. The genesis coupe sells about 22k units a year out of there 25k unit goal. 2+2 platforms do better based on having more room for storage. The G37 has physically strayed in design so I could see it happening. You never know? But unlike the 90's, nissan would have to keep prices in check.

I don't think they will kill it or make it a 2+2, that's what the G37 is for. Significant performance improvements to the current car should help it sell better.

I think they need to kill the 370Z NOW! Why with low sales, the economy and different issues not resolved Nissan wants to keep manufacturing the 370 without a single change.

They need to save all that money, resources and new ideas for a new Z that can compete with the upcoming global auto market.

I love my Z but is not cutting it with all the new line up in the currrent market.

When a car magazine picks a Hyundai to be compare against the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger is really a sad day... No love what so ever for the Z.

There are NO new improvements for 2012.
I know, I meant whenever they eventually add improvements to the current gen. Probably won't be till 2013 or 2014.

How is the Z not cutting it ? What car for it's price our performs and is as appealing as the 370z. My trips to the track make me realize our cars are pretty much even with most new cars. Mines modded but Ivr beatin plenty of newer cars that many may think are superior to the Z.

Yeah, but it's magazine numbers that sell more cars than actual track performances. Sad but true.

Yes, and Nissan already used this approach with the Z between the 300zx and 350z.

for the price, it's an amazing car. I am just surprised they didn't come up with a grand touring model for 2012 with few additional extras...i dont know what these extras would be.

I know the Z is the best bang for the buck, however your car is modded.

Like I said I LOVE my Z and is a 2009.

However, since 09 Nissan has not done nothing to add HP & TQ to make the Z more competitive, like a Turbo or SC.

Neither they have corrected the different issues since then.

I wouldn't doubt it, but it is better they take their time and do it right rather than do a few little body changes and trim upgrades and call it a day. I for one am happy they haven't significantly changed the 370z, that way you aren't wishing you have the newest model!

In that sense I will agree, but what you guys are already forgetting is nissan is coming out with 8 completely new designs. Sales were up 16.9%. Nissan had a record selling year in 2010. The juke is just the beginning of a completeely new looking line-up. So I can see them taking a chance.

As far as the poster earlier that said a 2+2 option would be a waste because of the G. What you are failing to see is that the G totally and completely strayed from any Z resemblence. Another thing is the G is around its last year with this bodystyle. Either 2012 or 13 will bring a completely new platform for the G that will bring no relation to the Z. The Z and G already began not looking alike. The G35 and 350Z had so many styling cues in common and weight was not far off from each other. Now the G is a fat pig. Now there's is little resemblence between G and Z. Nissan is giving the G its own identity. Talks of hybrids and such are being planned for the G while nissan already said. No hybrid for the Z.

I do not think the Z makes Nissan any money, it's not a "halo" car, and therefore will not likely survive a product line replan. It is simply too great a car, too high of quality, and selling at too low a price and too few units. It costs Porsche no more to build a 911 Carerra S than it does the Z, and look what those sell for at comparable volume. Ford can build an F150 truck for 1/4 the price, sell millions of them worldwide, and charge about the same price with bling.
