I don't have first-hand experience with the 335i, but I have seen a lot of them that were lowered and had autoX hints about them (sticker/license-plate frame, etc.)

They can't be THAT boring.

Yeah, I'm definitely a bit wary of a new model 'Vette, but if it is actually mid-engine (I know, it's unlikely), and split window, I probably won't be able to resist.

Strong doubts that it will be mid-engine. That's a rumor that just won't die.

I'm the opposite on split window. If it is, I'll definitely buy the '13 (or '14, or whatever) C6Z and call it good. I'm going to keep my '11 in positive equity until I know for sure what/when the C7 is and then decide. I will say, though, the Z06 is an awesome car. I can putter around town all day in it, or I can hit tripple digits so fast its scary. The car really does have a Clark Kent/Superman persona. Not so much the suspension, though, which is one thing that has me wanting a '13. Will order the F55 option this go around.

F55 = Magnetic Ride?

They have said that the C7 is going to be a big departure from the previous models (or something like that), so I'm really curious to see what they come up with. I'm doubting it will be mid-engine too, but man, I'm still crossing my fingers.

Why are you against a split-window? Just not into that style?

Have you done any engine mods to the Z06? Not that you really need to, but listening to some clips of the C6 with headers + exhaust, it sounds scary awesome. The idea of modding for a big American V8 is sounding really great to me.

I think tthey mean stock to stock... boring is a strong word. I would call the 335I more composed and sedate in comparison to the Z. It handles great but you really have to have get the car over 90mph for it to be really fun. The Z is fun at speeds as low as 40mph due to its extremely short wheelbase and taughter suspension.

Not to harp on the one guy, but I also always hear (top gear, fifth gear) that McLaren never even made much of a profit off the F1. And that's at 1 miiiiillion dollars each.

I think the 370Z is the best value for a two seat sports car with some amazing engine tech and some really nice options available.

If you want nicer/pricier, you can go up to a Cayman S, Lotus Evora, Audi R8, a Ferrari 458 (I like mid-engine cars ).

I don't think the 335i is the same type of car at all, so it really depends on what you want from your car.

I like BMWs i really do but its just time for something different. if i get the Z i would like to do a few things to it but nothing major. if anything a set of deep dish 20's, twin turbo, titanium tip exhaust, carbon fiber lip kit all the way around i believe thats the correct term, 2 solar baric 8 in squares in the back, and some other engine mods. a clean look with out making a nice car look like its cheap.

the 370 is going to be more fun to drive but you are going to miss the luxury of the bmw. if i was you i would trade for a 335is. i think that would be equally as fun and look bad *** imo.

The carbon fiber bodywork alone on the Saleen S7 costs around 150k for Saleen to produce. The engine bay of the McLaren F1 is coated in gold (for heat dissipation purposes). Then add in carbon-ceramic brakes, aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, etc. I mean, come on now.

Back to the OP's question, I think the 370z offers a lot of car for 35k.
Let's not forget some of these cars are hand made too. A Ferrari can do a 180 all day with no problems cause that's what it was designed for. A 35,000 dollar car well that's a different story obviously.
