TPMS Standard?

I always thought TPMS came standard, was talking about it with my buddy today and he swears it was/is an option? Can anyone clarify?

How far back are you going?

All light motor vehicles sold after 9.1.2007 must have TPMS. However, many manufacturers, including Nissan, offered it as either standard equipment or as an option on different models/trim levels.

It was in regard to the Z. Thanks for the clarification guys, it was one of those things where I'd always known that, but he was so convinced he was right he almost had me convinced
