I guess the exclusiveness is good but if this keeps up then the future of the Z is not a good thing.

It was amazing to me how quickly they became commonplace, at least here in the OC area. Now, they are a dime a dozen and you don't get anyone making a comment, much less other 350 owners even giving a wave. I know that's inevitable over the years, but I was surprised at how fast it happened.

I'm wishing Nissan success but also quietly hoping that the numbers for the 370 stay small for at least a bit longer than last time...

Stillen's bread and butter is in selling performance upgrades to folks like us who buy these cars. Now, I'm not trying to imply that Nissan is doing anything wrong -- if people aren't buying the cars, they need to cut back production, it's as simple as that. But as car sales decrease, so too does aftermarket sales volume. We may even see certain aftermarket manufacturers close their doors, depending on the state of their balance sheets. And even if a company is in good financial shape, they may decide to hold/scale back on product development for the 370Z, given that Nissan's production cuts guarantee fewer customers for their products. That would be the prudent thing to do, at least until Nissan's production and sales projections turn back around.

My point, then, is that while we may bask in the warm glow of driving relatively exclusive cars, let's not get too carried away. If you're not into modding, then this probably doesn't concern you. But for those of us who are, this news will most likely mean fewer choices and availability in the aftermarket.
I did think about this also! That's actually one of the other reasons I traded the '08 TT. There were very few mods available without ordering overseas & dealing with the awful exchange rate! Couldn't even get the exhaust I wanted for that car!
But again that car was stickered at 47k with the options I had...I think Nissan's market being that much bigger will make the difference and we should be ok!! Good point made!

The poor 370Z sales has everything to do with the world economy. Nothing else really. The majority of consumers in the market place do not have the confidence (or ability) to purchase a new vehicle. For me, I have a daily driver truck (paid for) and my Z is paid for. There is no way I would go finance a new vehicle in todays uncertain economy. If I wanted a newer vehicle I would buy used and pay it off up front.
It's sad to see the effect it is having on the 370Z cause it's such a nice car. But that won't change until the economy improves.

I see a 370Z everyday. I pass by Esserman Nissan everyday on my way to UPS 330 9 (Where I work.)

I think I may have seen one on the road.

Need some HFC's ( available - even a choice )
Exhaust ( available - many choices )
ECU tune ( Cobb working on one - pending )

Trinkets ( cheap to make - plenty will surface )

Other stuff ( Japan are loaded with goodies )

I don't forsee any huge issues with tuning this car, even with a scale back on production.

I do see a 4-6 week waiting period for products ( made to order type deal )

I don't think there will be any problem finding items to

Intersting article. My VIN is in the 6000 range (Build 02/09) and our other 09 Z Built in 10/08 is in the 700 range. It looks like they were over 60% of quota in the first 3-4 months?

I'm going to be the voice of dissent. I don't know if it's Nissan's fault or the dealers' fault but, in this area, I don't think it's the economy's fault that they're not selling cars. If you want to buy a 370Z in this area, you're in trouble. There aren't many in stock. If you want an automatic transmission or the sport package, you will probably have to buy the car sight-unseen.

I've been to five (countem' FIVE) Nissan dealers in a 100 mile radius. Here's the rundown:

Manchester (small town): 1 - MT, non-Sport
Cookeville (medium-sized city): 1 - MT, non-Sport
Murfreesboro (affluent burb): 0, yes ZERO 370Zs in stock.
South Nashville: 0, yes ZERO 370Zs in stock.
Downtown Nashville: 3 - All MT, All Touring, All GPS, All non-Sport.

Arrrrrrgh! I can promise you that, if they don't have an AT for my wife to test drive, we're not buying a 370Z.

As an old wisened salesman once taught me . . . if it's not in stock, it's not really for sale.

Nissan? Get these dealers to stock a few cars and you'll sell more cars!

Our dealer did not have what we wanted either in our area (Central Illinois). So we told him what we desired and he found the exact car in Indianapolis. A few hours later we were driving it home, the proud owners of a new "Solid Red Sport Touring 6sp". I am sure that your dealer can use the "Nissan locator" to find what you require. Then obtain it for you.

I had one check yesterday. If I want gray Touring w/ Sport w/ auto, without Nav, it'll have to wait. No clue how long the wait would be. The closest car with the specs and color I want is in central Florida and that's too far to truck in at a reasonable price. He CAN bring in a white one with Nav, though! (I don't want white. I don't want Nav.)

I have the same problem in Wisconsin. There isn't sh!t for selection. Most dealers don't have more than 1 and many don't have any! I want a 6MT base, sport package, monterrey blue (not picky about extras...kick plate, trunk mat, etc.). Dealer searched the entire midwest without any luck and with the uncertain wait time I refuse to order one even though they were trying to PROMISE me 2-3 months. Based on what others have said on here I cant believe that anymore so I guess Ill hold off for now.

I took the specs to the dealship here in Austin the third week in January. They ordered the car directly from Nissan, and had it delivered in 5 weeks. (7sp auto/sport/navi/PG)
