This doesnt seem completely logical but it probably uses slightly less than putting the car in N and coasting up to a stop. Safer to if you need to use power to avoid an accident or something

drove 94k on a stock clutch in a 350z never a problem.
so not sure what you mean about "hope your clutch lasts".......
Ive always engine breaked, and never had any clutch problems.

It's pretty simple, if you are downshifting without rev matching, you are slipping your clutch and causing driveline shock, and yes this will result significant engine braking.

I don't think this is what people mean when they say "engine braking." Typically, engine braking happens whenever you are in gear and not touching the gas. Put it in first and gun it to about 6000 rpm, then let off the gas completely. You will feel the engine braking without downshifting as you described.

it works, i didnt say it worked well.....

i do prefer a regular guage but i think they wanted to get all that stuff on that little screen. why they couldnt include a digital speedo like the 350 who knows. i kinda liked having that sometimes.

i loved the s2000 digital dash, it was cool on a honda but other cars not so much but the lights for the gas everytime one goes out its just a little depressing....

well yes then i do....
just how i was taught. I was driving a grain truck for my g-dad when i was 17 so i learned pretty early.

didnt get my first manual car till i was 19. No complaints on the 370tranny. I thought the 350 was a bit crude but that was comparing it to my buddies s2k
those transmissions are smooth as butter

yeah that guy must have burnt a clutch or something.

i was impressed the 350 stock clutch lasted 95k really. ran a couple of cone courses. never really beat on it hard but still i had heard some people have killed their 350 clutches in like 20k or something.

freakin kids........

Honestly, probably to avoid the potential negative backlash of another Rwanda situation...

Glad you are safe in Nebraska instead of in Iraq.
