Snow Driving...Who's done it so far?

Poor little 370, AK370Z! Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like winter tires will be my best option. Hopefully the snow has left for the season with last nights

Poor little 370, AK370Z!

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like winter tires will be my best option. Hopefully the snow has left for the season with last nights storm. That will give me the summer to find rims and snow tires. The concensus seems to be that summer tires are an absolute no go, all-seasons are marginal and snow tires make it a reasonable experience.

If anyone knows of cheaper rims that fit over the sport brakes, please let me know. Snow tires for the 19"s are tough to come by, and I don't know if 18" will make it over the sport brakes. Still waiting for someone to take a 370Z to tirerack to measure...

I'm actually thinking of picking up maybe an used "base" rims set for the Z and wrap it around with winter tires. This way I can preserve the nice OEM Forged rims. I can clean and store them in winter. When summer comes, they will go on the car in excellent shape. Just my

P.S. Anyone tested base rims on their sports package yet? I am assuming it'll fit.

It doesn't snow often here in Seattle (ask a native and he will say it NEVER snows....congenital snownesia). But it is cold and wet most of the year. My first "mod" was to replace the stock summer tires with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. It did set me back $1,500, but now the car sticks to wet roads as well as it does to dry ones. I did not take the car out during our recent storm (and the days after it took to melt). People that have driven in light snow (under 4") claim the Pilot's are great. Don't confuse the Pilot Sport A/S with the other pilot tires. It is a totally different breed.

You can in fact fit 18" wheels on the 2010 370Z with sport package. I bought my winter tires and wheels off tirerack.com and they fit over the brakes. I'm sure even with the winter tires on its not the greatest in the snow but I would never drive it with summer tires on. Thats a death wish. I bought 18" low profile Bridgestone Blizzaks from the website and got a great deal too.
