Advice Appreciated

This concerns my stock 2009 Nismo with 10,000 miles. For the past several weeks, I have noted a clunking-like noise eminating from the rear as the car comes to a stop when braking. The noise appears only when the car's forward momentum shifts backward as it comes to a complete stop. If the car comes to a very gentle stop with little weight transfer, the noise is not evident.
Naturally, I brought the car to my local dealer where it remained overnight for evaluation. They concluded that said noise resulted from a slight glazing of the left rear brake rotor and could find no other explanation.
Does this sound reasonable?

Unlikely. Unless you really hear it localized there, I can't imagine how a 'glazed rotor' would make a clunking sound.

I'd look more closely at your rear suspsension including sway bar and potentially the rear diff.

It would be interesting to hear how one rotor alone got "glazed."

I would think that some sort of suspension component would be the cause of that noise. I know the rear end of my STi would clunk around, but that was because the rear end bushings were way too soft.

Did they fix the problem by replacing a rotor? What are they telling you?

Check the parking brake adjustment.
Mine made a noise like you're describing after I installed my spacers. I realized I had loosened up the adjuster/tensioner for the brake shoes during my install.
This could be the source of your noise, too.

I vote sway bar based on the circumstances you described. Get it checked and keep us posted!

Dealer claimed rotor does not require replacement and offered no other explanation.

I'm with suspension here as well.

Our beater (del Sol) clunks like Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang in the back - all the bushings are spent. However, it's not only braking, it's just going down a bumpy road (plenty here in SoCal). I'm going to redo them, but I gotta get this house finished up first...

Also ck if your spare is loose. Or anything in the trunk.

I used to have my spare lug-nuts in a ziplock bag rolling around in the trunk with my spare tire..

Made a lot of clunking when coming to a stop, lol.

Have you checked for stuff in there?
