Now they say that they have replaced the BCM unit (the BCM unit was not responding for some reason so they had to order it from long beach CA) and now they have to replace the steering wheel lock (they say that the lock is also damaged because of some short circuit). The steering wheel lock is on order so now because of Christmas, they will not be able to give it back to me till coming Tue....

Should I be worried about anything? The car is at Nissan authorized dealer but I was really not expecting this long delay in getting it over with. Should I be going and checking the car physically to see any damages? I am just surprised their diagnostic is so sequential...
Modern cars are very complicated electrically and are somewhat difficult to diagnose as a result. The service manual has a script that they follow for diagnostics and they typically just follow that, some better than others. Who knows if the BCM was already damaged or they damaged it themselves when probing, you never know. As long as they fix everything and don't damage anything else in the process you are good. The annoying thing is that replacement parts aren't stocked locally so every time they want to replace something it is an overnight delivery and another day delay.
