oh you cant do that. You will have to plug it in. The problem is because Apple doesnt allow the iphone to send out the phonebook via blutooth.

That is incorrect - the iPhone DOES supports phone book transfer. My last car had a Pioneer headunit and the phone book transferred from my iPhone just fine over bluetooth (at least up to the first 400 entries - a memory limit of the Pioneer unit). However, the Nissan headunit does not support apple phone book transfer. I wish they would come out with a software update that would fix that and also allow music streaming over bluetooth (which I haven't been able to get to work either) although it works fine from my iPhone in cars with Microsoft Sync-enabled stereos.
