The Z does 0-60 in around 4.8 seconds, the GT in around 4.3. The Z does the 1/4 mile in around 13.3@107, and the GT 12.8@112.
These are about the best times I could find for each car.

Why stop at 400 hp. Because in about 10 yrs the mustang and camaro will have at least 500 hp and a 400 hp Z will be slow.

Well said. Look.... cars will continue to evolve and what we once deemed stupid fast will now become slow. Look at Nick Cage's Gone in 60 Seconds and they were drooling over the 911 that did 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. 5.3 seconds is considered slow now with the 'same' 911 doing 0 - 60 4.2 seconds.

Let's not forgot that our Z is still faster than most of the Mustangs on the road today, especially the 4.6 liter ones; but due to evolution, the Stang/Muscle Car is back on top in the overall speed catagory. It is how it should be. Heck, our Z's have the same/more HP than the R34 GTR. It goes back to the thought process of: Get the car you like for me than just magazine test and statistics. Get the car you want to have on the track/road/drag strip/car show.

For me, I would take my Z over the 5.0, Z06, and Exige all over again. Why? For different reasons depending on which one I am comparing it to.

I want to read this entire article however. Going to the store!!

yes, but with 436bhp, the current SS is no faster than the previous iteration with 350bhp. That weight soaks it up.

With a supercharger though.
Slap on a TT in the Z and you can be at 450-500 depending on what PSI you want to run.

and it will cost the same or more as the GT500, thus killing the "value" of owning it. Ford is dropping the 5.4 engine in the GT500 and will be using the 5.0 engine for the next iteration, it makes more power at a lower PSI, so expect the GT500 to be making 600+ as well. The Whipple 2.3L kit is already making 624hp and 560 ft/lbs at 9 psi.

I thought the mustang was suppose to compete with the camaro? Once again ford fall's short so there having to compare them to cars with smaller engines..

I cant see the camero having more power than the vette, as their flagship car. Unless they do the same for the vette

The 5.0 beats the Camaro SS, the Z28 is a supercharged Camaro SS which is meant to take on the GT500. Which as of right now is in a bit of limbo because the contract for the GT500 ends this year and a decision is still being made on where ford wants to go with the top end Mustang.

Same 5.4L with a SC?
Use the 5.0L with a SC or eco boost tech?
Something new?

Well I suppose its about time! The last time a mustang gt out ran a ss or z28 was when the late 80's early 90's body style was out.
