Needless to say, I would stay with my 370. My friend who owns Porsche always dream about owning a Z whenever he sees my car. What's up with that?

I hate pretty much every porsche.

I only kinda like the Carrera GT.

That's for the base. The Sport + Touring brings it up over 3,300 lbs. So I was a little off.

And a SRT-8 Challenger is over 4,000 lbs.

Like I said, I need no touring stuff. Give me my Base + Sport. 3250 per the last V6 Stang vs Genesis vs Z comparo. Lighter wheels and lighter exhaust, and you can get the Z down to 3200ish. That is not to mention two piece rotors, drop about 35 more pounds; of upsprung weight at that!!

The Boss 302 is still hawt. And to your point, what is it with the Challenger being so tall? I do not get that.

Thankx for the good read =)

Vegitto-kun 01-13-2011 03:59 PM

out of the main american muscles I do have to admit that I like the camaro the most. I hate the butt of the mustang.

Endgame 01-13-2011 04:08 PM

I think the Stang takes it by far.... I saw a black 5.0 that was lowered some this past Saturday. WOW. it looked and sounded great.

Vegitto-kun 01-13-2011 04:12 PM

I just don't like the butt especially that bigass GT badge

A bit more than a couple (unless you are a pretty freaky, and we all know you are m4a1, :rofl2:).

Not trying to slam the Mustang, as I do like it (as I've already stated in other threads), just pointing out the weight differences I found when I googled for them.

Weight be damned, I still want the Boss 302.

I was considering the Boss 302. I know guy who did suspension development on the car and it is the best Mustang to come along in awhile! However the Nismo 370Z is just a more compelling car to me. Still smaller, still lighter, more agile, lower center of gravity, more aero, sleeker looking, more efficient design, etc. However 444 Boss 302 HP from high reving aluminum V8 is hard to ignore! Boss is an M3 beater if I have ever seen one. I'd love to a see Best of Motor video with a Japanese driver behind the wheel of the new Boss 302 with some JDM cars on one of those 5 lap races. Boss would smoke most cars in the straights.

Camaro is way too heavy and styling is still too "Transformers" for me! I'd feel really goofy driving one too. There is just something about modern era Chevy muscle cars that doesnt click with me. I loved the Z28 from the late 60's but they just look odd now.

It's built on the Chrysler 300 platform, i believe, so thats probably why it's dimensionally huge.

I'm not going to fault your point of view, as preferences are all personal, but I'm quite sure the BOSS is going to destroy most everything in or near its class on a road course. The regular 5.0 with Brembos is quite a bit quicker than the NISMO around a track already, and the Boss is going to seriously outdo the Brembo 5.0. I think its going to surprise the hell out of a lot of people.

That's just one track and one test, but still...

Numbers 44 and 57, respectively

yeah it was, i just looked it up...bahhhh ive had plenty of 5.0 seat time and just cant see it handling better than the Z...its gotta be the power difference shaving the time...it does feel like it brakes better with the brembos but...

m4a1mustang 01-13-2011 06:30 PM

I have plenty of seat time as well. I have no doubt the Brembo 5.0 is the faster car stock-for-stock around a track. It's better balanced, has better brakes, and can put the power down a lot better for a nice exit.

It drives much differently than the Z, though. I'd say it's a lot harder to drive the 5.0 fast than it is the Z.

The only place I could see the Z having an advantage is in Auto X. Lighter, shorter wheel base, and more nimble. Everywhere else the Brembo 5.0 has the edge.

Not knocking on the Z at all... just sharing my experience.
