And we all know that Mustang has a fat ***!!!

The Mustang is only a couple hundred pounds heavier than a Sport+Touring 370Z Coupe. The Camaro and Challenger are several hundred pounds heavier than the Mustang.

Z: ~3250 lbs
Mustang GT: ~3600 lbs
Camaro SS: ~3900 lbs
Challenger: ~3850 lbs

A bit more than a couple (unless you are a pretty freaky, and we all know you are m4a1, ).

Not trying to slam the Mustang, as I do like it (as I've already stated in other threads), just pointing out the weight differences I found when I googled for them.

Weight be damned, I still want the Boss 302.

Using your numbers.....

Z: ~3250 lbs = 9.7 lbs/hp
Mustang GT: ~3600 lbs = 8.7 lbs/hp
Camaro SS: ~3900 lbs = 9.2 lbs/hp
Challenger: ~3850 lbs = 9.0 lbs/hp

THis is why the 'stang now rocks, plus it out-handles the other two americans easily and is creepiing up into Z territory.

the thing though about power.. weight all that is that its all relative. Yes lower weight could be nicer and higher hp could be nicer.. but its all relative to the design and engineering of the car as a whole. So much goes into how the power is put to the ground, the gear ratio's, aero dynamics, etc etc etc etc etc. that well in the end, people just have to go out and run the cars.

Not saying that a car with 336hp and weights 10,000lb's can beat a 370z but when people knacker over 100lb's or 15 hp in completely different cars.. ehh its a useless arguement.

Thats why i spent about 3 months test driving different cars each weekend.

P.S The g8 is an awesome car. A manual 6.0 GTO is also a ton of fun.

I was considering the Boss 302. I know guy who did suspension development on the car and it is the best Mustang to come along in awhile! However the Nismo 370Z is just a more compelling car to me. Still smaller, still lighter, more agile, lower center of gravity, more aero, sleeker looking, more efficient design, etc. However 444 Boss 302 HP from high reving aluminum V8 is hard to ignore! Boss is an M3 beater if I have ever seen one. I'd love to a see Best of Motor video with a Japanese driver behind the wheel of the new Boss 302 with some JDM cars on one of those 5 lap races. Boss would smoke most cars in the straights.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6gRBMt3U7U

Camaro is way too heavy and styling is still too "Transformers" for me! I'd feel really goofy driving one too. There is just something about modern era Chevy muscle cars that doesnt click with me. I loved the Z28 from the late 60's but they just look odd now.

It's built on the Chrysler 300 platform, i believe, so thats probably why it's dimensionally huge.

I'm not going to fault your point of view, as preferences are all personal, but I'm quite sure the BOSS is going to destroy most everything in or near its class on a road course. The regular 5.0 with Brembos is quite a bit quicker than the NISMO around a track already, and the Boss is going to seriously outdo the Brembo 5.0. I think its going to surprise the hell out of a lot of people.

Yeah, they aimed at beating the M3 as their goal, and they were able to do it with a Boss 302 prototype their first lap out on the track. On the track I don't think the 370Z is even close to the same class, without serious modifications.

Speed has a pretty awesome 1 hour special about the making of the new Boss, it was very cool. I think it airs again next Saturday.

That's for the base. The Sport + Touring brings it up over 3,300 lbs. So I was a little off.

And a SRT-8 Challenger is over 4,000 lbs.

Yeah, I didn't have exact numbers (didn't feel like searching that much), but I figured they would be close enough. It's a shame the Challenger is such a pig, because looks wise, I like it the best out of the three revival "Muscle" cars. Less weight and a lower roof line (and of course better handling) would make it more of a real competitor.

Like I said, I need no touring stuff. Give me my Base + Sport. 3250 per the last V6 Stang vs Genesis vs Z comparo. Lighter wheels and lighter exhaust, and you can get the Z down to 3200ish. That is not to mention two piece rotors, drop about 35 more pounds; of upsprung weight at that!!

The Boss 302 is still hawt. And to your point, what is it with the Challenger being so tall? I do not get that.

And yes, I am very freaky.

What are you doing tonight?

Oh, you don't have to answer. I'll just take a look at my surveilance cameras.

yeah i got to drive the camaro SS a bit, friend has one. and its got a nice torquey rush to it.. but honestly thats it. The interior was soo bad.. just bad. Sure its got back seats but they aint easy to get to or super comfy. The trunk is okay. When i was shopping though for a car, I didnt even look at them. Instead I was considering a G8 gxp. same kinda power, but real back seats and a real trunk and a much nicer interior. Probably weighs less too and based of the same platform.
