Well yeah, cars in general are way more expensive over here in Europe compared to ones in America, so you're probably right. A Rio (base model) costs $19900 (VAT) over here in Europe. In Euro terms they're quite cheap (If you're OK with the bad brand image).
I think Hyundai is slightly more expensive over here because it's got a slightly better brand image than KIA. A Sonata 2.0 diesel (Executive) is $37924 (VAT), that's the price of a Z in America  .
