"Zed".....?

Gang, Got a question. I've had Datsun and Nissan "Z's" for several years and have never seen an "ed" after the "Z" emblem on our cars......... Have any of you,

I've had Datsun and Nissan "Z's" for several years and have never seen an "ed" after the "Z" emblem on our cars......... Have any of you, I didn't think so...! So why is it that whenever I watch the English TV show "Top Gear" or speak to a Canadian, they refer to the "Z" as a "Zed"...? It's always been just "Z" to me. Anyone have an answer?
