Full time college, electrical engineering major, part time job, unpaid internship, part time job, and a girlfriend of almost 3 years. I'm managing alright :)

Oh and the Z came after an s2000. Both were my dream cars. :)

Old fart, really?

Anyway, 44 here, but got married with 22, having 3 kids out of our house and working/college, now it's my time :happydance:
With 20 I actually had a Porsche 928S4 and people told me the same, on the long run they were right though. Had to sell the car because replacing freaking brakes all the way around was 3000.-, and not even my part time job in college could pay for that. Back than, at least in Germany, no way to buy a car on lease or monthly payment without a full time job, cash was king. You young guys have it easy nowadays, almost everyone can afford the newest and the greatest.

Age of 370Z owners?

.....too damn old!

b15 04-16-2013 05:32 PM

Here's my take on being young with nice toys. I wasn't told I couldn't have it until I was older but rather to make my decisions wisely. Personally I could afford a 370z at 22 but having just graduated and moving back home, I opted to save for a year and buy a house instead. To me that trumps the car any day. Having the toys would've been nice but it didn't feel right parking it in my parents garage or in an apartment lot. Thus I waited until I was 27 for my toy. Would've had it sooner but weddings are expensive!

Its all about priorities really. For me having my own house was more important so that's what I worked towards. Now that I have both, I wish I had a three car garage so my dd can be inside too lol. But yeah I just laugh when someone tells me I cant achieve something. Just motivates me that much more.

I was 20 when I bought my Z. Been working full time since I graduated college at 19

Tigger 04-16-2013 08:53 PM

32... I did the sensible, responsible and reliable approach while in school and then during my time in the military. Had many other toys. Just kept the sports car thing on the bottom rung until I finally settled on something. I got out last October so I bought myself a Tag. Kept looking for a car and then finally, right after my birthday this year I gave the Z another shot and drove it home. Done with sensible and reliable. There's more important things in life like going fast when I wanna.

Jking92 04-16-2013 09:19 PM

20. Traded my 2011 Mustang for my Z. Best decision I ever made!

Wabbyyy 04-17-2013 10:51 PM

19. First car.

Wabbyyy 04-17-2013 10:52 PM

Actually i got it when i was 16. In Jersey, you don't get your license until you're 17. Now 17. Had it for almost 3 years.

you saved up for a Z at 16 years of age? Or your parents found it sensible to buy you a 3.7L v6 sportscar before you even had your permit, not to mention as your first car..?

just wondering :ugh2:

bimmer 04-18-2013 01:09 AM

I was 57 when I got my first 350Z and then at 58 I got my first 370Z and now at 59 I have 2 370Z and and at this age I thoroughly enjoy them except where I reside (Calgary) the driving season is too short, it actually still snowing.
the Z's makes me feel young once again!!!!

CVRZ34 04-18-2013 06:47 PM

17 when I bought my '08 350z.

22 now with a '13 370z

zguynate 04-18-2013 07:40 PM

I got my first Z, a 2003 350z, the day before I graduated the police academy in Oct of 2009 when I was 21. I paid it off Feb of 2012, got rear ended 3 weeks later and upgraded to a 2009 370z with the help of the insurance check I got for my 350z. I would have bought another 350z if I didnt get a great deal on my 370z.

Mods on the 370z have been slow. Weddings and houses are expensive lol. The 370z will be my last newer sports car for a very long time. Its time to start a family and start saving for a retirement.

joeybosco 04-18-2013 11:14 PM

18, 2nd Z, 3rd sports car, 4th car

Who cares about what people say, as long as you can afford.
But I keep wondering, how do you manage the payments on the z, gas, insurance and on top of that a gf with a part time job?

1087 04-18-2013 11:29 PM

Got my first Z back in 1987 (260Z), then traded for a 280Z same year, In 1990 I got my then new 300ZXTwin Turbo, got another new Twin Turbo in 1992.

Poll: Member Age

I am 51 years old and I had wanted a Z since I was in high school. :icon14: But life's priorities had always gotten into the way until recently.

Reading the posts in this forum, I've often wondered if I am the only old geezer or there are more folks like me out there than it seems.

nogoodname 06-22-2013 04:50 PM

I'd say most members fall under option 4 and 5.

grant 06-22-2013 05:01 PM

I had a '71 Z when I came back from Asia, and after 100,000 miles traded it for a family car. Couldn't carry the family. Retired last year and got rid if the Fusion Hybrid, and got the car I wanted for many years.

Nismo89 06-22-2013 05:11 PM

bought the Z when I was 21, im 24 now. love at first sight.

Z-Girl 12 06-22-2013 05:20 PM

bought it when I was 35...36 now oh my goodness where does the time go?

reunited 06-22-2013 05:34 PM

My first z was a 1977 bought new. Four others followed in the 80's, and now again with a 2012, thus my screen name.

H2O_Doc 06-22-2013 05:39 PM

My member age is the same as my age (we "came" as a "package").

I'm a 69er (you'll have to do the math).

I still remember the first Z I ever rode in back in 1975. A friend and I got to ride in the back of his father's new 280 Z. No seatbelts, no air bags, no seats.

You're not named after the Peaches and Herb song? I thought maybe that played a seminal role in your genesis?

26 yrs old, bought my G37 when i was 24 and 2 years later I purchased my 370Z...both awesome cars in different categories :)

alvitdk 06-23-2013 02:54 AM

Amazing that the majority of owners are in the mid 20's. When I was in that age, I started a family, paid off my college loan and saved for buying a house. Somehow I had different priorities.....gosh, I sound like my dad :rofl2:
