26 here, purchased my first Z when I was 16. This is my 3rd. I owned a 79 280ZX with pretty much no mods, it was my daily driver to work. Then I got an 81 280ZX and put an LT1/4l60e in, sold that to get the 370 =). Love the Z and it's history, such a great car.

31 and my first Z. My first car was a 1966 mustang that I saved up to buy. It had a sprint 200 under the hood. Not as much power as the 289 but I did learn a healthy respect for light cars with rear wheel drive.

StLRedrider 02-22-2009 10:51 AM

35, first sports car.

FERRARI 02-22-2009 11:41 AM

I work a full time job and go to college, and have been saving for well over three years for a new car. Basically since I bought by crap car I started saving.

bluzman 02-22-2009 06:37 PM

Turned 65 this past Thursday - my first Z.

All depends on your line of work. Hell, I test drove a Porsche before I drove the Z!

chrishfic 02-22-2009 06:59 PM

enenen 02-22-2009 09:45 PM

If i get one this summer, i'll be 22/23. almost bought a 350z 3 years ago, but bought a Nissan Frontier instead. Now that it's paid off and I bought a house, it may be time for a sports car.

And, I'm also in the work full time, college part-time club. During the day, I'm a lineman for the electric company. Pays the bills.

Do you live at home or rent/own?

Excessive amounts of work and the ability to save money in the bank.
Is it really that hard to believe that someone younger then you can afford a 370Z?

I live at home, but still pay rent, also pay for college out of my own pocket (5-6k a year, which is cheap right now).

rsboland 02-23-2009 09:08 AM

24 here... loving the insurance on the car too :owned:

Chupacabra 02-23-2009 09:19 AM

27, first z

drove MINI's my whole life.

Younger people if they are in decent professions, ie: engineering will make around 50-55k a year, they can buy a z, or lease it. But yeah the great majority apparently are between 21-25 impressive grasshopper most impressive.

molamann 02-23-2009 10:13 AM

22, drove a V6 Camaro previously as my first car which I paid for.

G&M Performance 02-23-2009 10:23 AM

27, owned a few cars. My supercharged Cobra is still my fav to this day.

G&M Performance 02-23-2009 10:30 AM

Oh and to those that are wondering how the young guys are getting their cars... It's called FINANCING. And everyone wonders why our fake economy (credit this, credit that) is falling on its face?

Anyway, with that aside, those guys work hard for what they want. Hats off especially to those that save up and pay in CASH. Not many people their age have that kind of discipline.

rsboland 02-23-2009 10:35 AM

I am a web developer in DC. So, we make bank since there aren't that many. Most of us can bill 100+ an hour full time. I didn't pay cash for the whole car, but I put 25K down, and I plan to pay it off within 2009.

G&M Performance 02-23-2009 11:22 AM

^^ I used to do the same thing when Flash debuted. Which company do you work for or do you do things on your own?

I work for a contracting company called Disys. They found me on Monster and I liked their offer, so I moved to DC. I write software that tracks illegal commodity trading for the Federal gov't. Do you still do web development?

FERRARI 02-23-2009 02:07 PM

Good for you rsboland !

glad to hear that you have done well....more power to you......
