I'm 23 and have a lot of tattoos, I'm almost positive that most people think I'm a drug dealer when they see me step out of it.

Its just a Nissan.

I see BMW X5s, 5 series, Audis, etc pass by me all the time. All those cars cost as much or more than my car.

If you had bought a Ferrari, then you could say something, otherwise you just sound like you WANT to be looked at.

Actually, there is something else I would like to add. Your post comes across very arrogant and patronizing. How did you get this car? Did your daddy buy it for you? Or did you put yourself under serious debt to afford this car? Or finally, did you work your *** off to save enough money to buy this car standing on your own two feet?

The first of the three just means your are spoiled, the second means you are an idiot.

I have a feeling that if your friends are jealous it means you belong to the first category.

The problem is with your attitude, not the car.

Oh hell...

I would have been able to afford a fully-equipped 370Z at 19 had I not been busy pouring money into my old project car. Instead I waited until I turned 21 to buy a brand new Evo X. Now I'm paying for a brand new base 370Z as well @ 22. Does that mean I'm one of your 3 propositions above? Or does it mean I make more money than you'd care to believe a 22 year old can make?

I've had two sets of friends during my professional career. People who are like myself - technical people, have families, make really good money, and then my car friends - younger, may or may not have families, don't make **** for money for the most part. Among these groups there have always been two different attitudes - the first group is impressed by default, the second is jealous... mostly jealous in denial. Would I rather be around software engineers or car people, though? Eh, that's a tough call.

Just my $0.02

So you don't belong to the category "Working to save enough money to buy this car standing on your own two feet?"

I don't care how much money you make, but you make enough to afford this car on your own, no?

I would be much more impressed if someone at 22 makes enough money on his/her own to afford a Ford Focus than a 22 year old driving a Ferrari his daddy bought him.

No, what you described is somebody "working their *** off," presumably during a part-time or full-time summer job, to save enough money to be able to afford a Z. I definitely do not fall into that category, nor does anybody else who has a full-time, salaried professional job. What you described would have been me at 17-18. The fourth category should have been: able to afford the car with your own pay, regardless.

And to your second point, how would you - an outside observer - be able to know whether said 22 year old bought the Ferrari on his own? If I had no revolving debt and didn't have another person to support right now, I could trade in both cars and finance a used (very used, but nonetheless) Ferrari. And one would assume somebody bought it for me unless they knew me personally, no? Kind of annoying and presumptuous, right?

Why?

If someones parents make 600k a year why is it wrong for their child to receive a 40k sports car?

Its ignorant people like you that piss me off.

My parents bought me my 370z fully loaded. My dad is a VP at Exxon and travels to dozens of countries 90 percent of the time, he was hardly ever home when I was a teenager and I since my family lives in a different country now I see him maybe once a year if i'm lucky and i'm 19.

So you see everyone makes sacrifices a lot of my friends got to see their families every day growing up but didn't get a nice car in return and a lot had both.

If your parents made a ridiculous sum of money would it be wrong to share it with their immediate family?? My parents pay for everything and support me through school and I love them for it. They want me to come out with 0 debt and be able to live the best life I can possibly live. So before you go make assumptions on "daddy bought me this" remember who really cares

It's spoiled kids like you who piss those of us off who can actually afford $40k sports cars at 19.

Why? Because you absolutely DO NOT have the same appreciation for that car that you would if you were paying for it off your own hard-earned money. You don't have to worry about coordinating maintenance or repairs, you don't have to worry about insuring it.

Unless my future kids are just like I am when it comes to cars, they aren't getting anything better than a beater car when they're under my roof. I will pour my entire soul into teaching them how to be successful, but a $40k car as a handout is just ridiculous.

My original responses and comments still stand. Someone who says things like he should find richer friends, speaks loud about their core personal values.

The laws of physics would have to change for me to care any less about how much you see your dad or your daddy issues. Why don't you tell your dad to make 1/4 of what he makes so he can spend more time with you?

What I care about is "deserving" a certain lifestyles. At 19, very very VERY few people in the world deserve a 40k car as a gift.

Get over yourself. You are still a nobody, at least not without your dad. I am done with this useless thread.

There's a difference in the ability to make Z payments and affording the car. When I was 21 and in college and working I could have made the base model payments. It would have sucked and I would had sacraficed party money and food money and rent money. But I would have had a cool car.
