if you have the records showing that you changed the oil and recorded the mileages, then you should be fine. if the dealership gives you grief, get on the horn with NNA using their 1-800 number. if you don't, you are probably screwed. and the ECU is mostly looking for things that are related emissions and the sensors that effect them so a SES light would probably not come on unless it was from an o2 fault in combo with knock sensor. the oil pressure light should have come on if there was that much of a problem though.

Well if you were indeed running the engine without any oil, then you can definitely expect some big headaches, either now, or further down the line.

I'm surprised you can afford a 40,000 dollar car with your god awful spelling. May I ask who has ever payed you 40k, when you spell every word in a sentence wrong?
Maybe where ever you got the oil done forgot to put the new oil in. Drained it and then let you drive off. Improbable but possible. |

I'm going to have to say that if you changed your own oil, you really don't have much of a leg to stand on honestly. Relying on the oil light to tell you that your oil is low is like playing Russian Roulette with 5 bullets. That's what they make a dipstick for.
Do you change the crush washer when you change your oil? That's the first thought that came to my mind was that all of the oil leaked around the filter. Just a WAG, but something to ponder. I would sure do my best before they try to clean of any part of the engine to figure out where the oil came out. If you had actually burned that much oil, you would have noticed it, so I think leaking is your only option. Last edited by TreeSemdyZee; 06-30-2010 at 09:31 PM. |

I really feel for you with this oil problem. My bet is that when you, or someone else changed the oil they forget to put the new oil in. There is no way that you could leak 5 qt of oil and not know it. Someone would see it and at least let you know. Last edited by nolan1016; 07-01-2010 at 09:28 AM. |
