I used to keep it on all the time but now I usually have it turned off because of the 4.08 gears. The gears ruin it, on the downshift and the upshift. I'm sure it will only get worse with a more aggressive clutch. I wonder if a tuner can adjust the the SRM feature to compensate for the gears?

I normally keep it on. But that is interesting that the 4.08s mess with it. Good to know because the 4.08s I am interested in getting in the future. I will have to look into this more.

It's not major, just maybe 200 rpm off - enough to irritate me.

But don't get me wrong, the gears MORE than make up for the minor inconvenience.

I thought it was going to be awkward to get used to, but after the first drive, I LOVED it. Makes me feel like I'm driving a bad-*** car, because I am.

I just love the sound when you downshift.
Or the sound when you put it in neutral and immediately move the knob to the left (not in 1st or 2nd, just in neutral to the left). But I hear this only blips the throttle without engaging in a gear on SOME Z's. Anyone else confirm?

Always on.

I remember after I installed my CF shifter ring, I guess it jammed the SRM button in off mode. Drove like 100 meters and was like, "WTF is wrong with my Z lol"...I had to pull over, find a tool to flip the console up, dislodge the button..."phew" lol

I thought it was gimicky at first. It is on all the time now. Well it is not doing anything at the moment, actually. I await delivery of the awe-inspring steering lock mechanism that is backordered.

It threw me off at first because that was how I always drove stick. So I turned it off, until I realized the car can do it better than I can... It's such a cool feature! Always on now.

I prefer it on, but I take turns with it on and off just to keep things exciting. But after a few "not so perfect" matches, I can't help thinking how I'm slowly chipping the life out of the clutch. I'm sure I'm being a little paranoid, but it's hard to deny when SRM does it perfectly every time.

I've never had it on yet except when I drove the Z off the dealer. I just can't bring myself to it, besides the more you drive a manual the smoother you get at heel and toe and rev matching. Maybe on a track day I might turn it on.

I don't have Sports Package, so I don't have SRM on my Z.

So I can't vote on this one but I think it doesn't matter if I chip in.

The technology behind the SRM is amazing, however, the more you use the SRM, the more you will depends on it, at least that's what I feel after reading the 4 pages of this thread.

And, the more you depends on it, the more rusty on your heel-toe.

But hey, aren't heel-toe the best part of driving a stick-shift??

Doesn't trying to do heel-toe at your best give you the most pride??

Doesn't it make you feel better if you tell yourself "Man, I can heel-toe like a pro... yea." ???

Maybe I am a bit old-school thinking or stubborn

But how can I let the electronic 'kill' the 'art' of driving a stick-shift.

That's why I didn't even bother to think about the sports-package when I order the Z: I will choose a set of 19 with the style I like, I won't track the Z so the sports-brake is not within my concern, and the SRM... you heard what I said. LOL

Just my $0.02, of course, you like it, use it!! But let your heel do some exercise sometimes. LOL

Very good point, obviously some people take pride in driving, but some take it to the extreme. I just find it a little ridiculous when some who do have it say "I have SRM but have not and will not ever use it." It's not like you lose man points for using it

. Anyway, if you've never used it, I would encourage you to at least try it. Its pretty amazing how bang on perfect it is every time.

Yep - the more we ask those tire patches to handle, the more likely we are to get in trouble. I drive with SRM on because it's cool technology.
